Update: Dan Not to Star as US Marine in New Film

Posted by Dijares On February - 26 - 2010

Dan Radcliffe/Film are reporting that Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) will take on a new film called The Lucky Ones.  Lily Rabe is reportedly his co-star.  The film, which is directed by Doug McGrath and adapted from the novel by Nicholas Sparks, is about a US Marine named Logan Thibault.  Thibault finds a photo of a woman while stationed in Iraq and feels the photo brings him good luck. When he returns to the US he tracks down the woman (named Elizabeth) who turns out to be a divorced mother.

The report from /Film came about when Christine Vachon updated her Twitter account last night stating she was heading to a Doug McGrath script reading that starred Dan Radcliffe. After the reading, she twittered again, stating that Dan and Lily Rabe were amazing together.

Filming is expected to start in May.

UPDATE: MTV, who acknowledged that this story was very likely, was able to dig around and find more information.  They stated that, in fact, Dan and Lily had attended a reading together, but not for The Lucky Ones.  Instead, the reading was for a film that has yet to have any financial backing.  Their unnamed source stated that the name of the film is Nothing Else Like it on Earth.

Apparently none of the actors have been confirmed yet due to film being in an early state of production. Daniel and Lily were just doing the readings, and no casting decisions have been made. However, the little information that is known about the project is that it is about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge and that Sigourney Weaver and Nathan Lane also read for parts.

“But if they cast the line-up that was at the reading yesterday it will be quite the cast,” our insider shared. “Lily Rabe played the role opposite [Daniel]. She did a pretty incredible job.”

People Tree’s Love From Emma In Teen Vogue

Posted by Lilysowl On February - 26 - 2010

Emma WatsonWe previously reported that Emma Watson’s official site noted Teen Vogue listed the Harry Potter star’s “Love From Emma” fashion line for People Tree in the number one spot for the Top Ten Spring Fashion List.  The magazine posted the list on their website which included the following quotes from Watson:

“Girls I’ve spoken with are as conscientious as ever, yet there’s so little ethical clothing out there for people my age,” she explains. . .

”In a way, I did it for me because I couldn’t find what I wanted in stores,” says Emma. “This collection reflects my casual side, the stuff I’d wear to class,” she adds of the striped T-shirt dresses and soft gray blazers, spun from organic cotton—as in, grown without toxic chemicals. “The cuts are sexier than most sustainable brands. I’m a perfectionist, so I couldn’t sleep if something wasn’t exactly the way I wanted.”…

”I made sure everything felt good. Organic clothes can be scratchy, but ours feel heavenly!”

People Tree uses fashion to fight poverty by following the British Fair Trade principles created by WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization).  People Tree works closely with 50 Fair Trade groups in 15 countries.  This benefits people and the planet at as many steps of the production process as possible i.e. growing cotton, weaving, dyeing, embroidery, stitching, etc.  It has contributed to  helping alleviate poverty in the world’s most marginalised communities.

Now, I mentioned in our previous report that I had my eye on a scarf in the “Love From Emma” collection.  Since I happened to live in the States, I emailed People Tree to inquire if the scarf could be mine.  Today, I received a reply from their Mail Order Department:

“From this weekend we will be able to take orders on the web and ship to the US so please do log on to the site.”

So watch out, US Emma Watson fans, that scarf is mine!  Lolol!

Update: Video: Jason Isaacs Talks Potter

Posted by Dijares On February - 26 - 2010

Jason IsaacsJason Isaacs, who portrays Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, recently spoke with CNN, answering some fans’ questions. He was asked whether he likes playing a bad guy, and he prefers good writing over bad writing (and not necessarily the bad guy role).  He also stated he had auditioned for the role of Gilderoy Lockhart and that his favorite part of doing Potter is off camera and getting to spend time with what he called ‘British Acting Royalty.’ He says he’s a huge Potter fan.  He was also asked if he were Lucius Malfoy for a day what he’d do.  He said if he were Lucius, he’d probably kill Muggles all day since that’s what Lucius dreams of.  He also reminded fans that he’ll be in Green Zone with Matt Damon which will be in theatres on March 12.  See this hilarious interview below:

UPDATE: In another interview, this time with ComingSoon.net, Jason spoke more of some of the characters who will be in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, how the stories are  roller coaster ride, and how he feels about the end.

“They made the last book into two films, and it was a fantastic experience because everyone who is left alive is back… and even some of the dead people,” he said with a sly smile. “There is one long sequence where everyone who is left standing is there when the forces of good meet the forces of evil.”

“I think over the years that they’ve been adapting these incredibly popular and successful books, they’ve increasingly become more and more confident in their ability to make great cinema experiences out of it and where they need to change the book or the central thrust of the story, they do it now with real aplomb and with Jo Rowling’s blessing,” he continued. “Everybody is very savvy to the notion that this is a much-loved franchise and this will be the end of an eighth film, and it needs to have weight and substance and you need to feel drained by the end of it. It’s a ten-year roller coaster ride, not a two-hour roller coaster ride, and we all know it and we all felt it, and it was in the air while we were shooting it.”

“This franchise goes out in an epic way,” he concluded. “I think the end of the films will be a fantastically cinematic and visual feast and it will more than satisfy the readers of the books, but what you won’t get is the book on screen. You will get something more and different.”

“It’s very sad for me,” he admitted when asked about how he felt about the movies coming to an end. “I’m a particularly sentimental fool anyway so I was already nostalgic for the history of Harry Potter while I was still making it, and I knew the end was coming. I was always cognizant of the fact I was going to have to pack up my furry friend of a wig and stick it in a box and say goodbye to the cane and any magic powers. All the joy was tinged with sadness for me.”

New Photos of Swinley Forest DH Set

Posted by Dijares On February - 25 - 2010

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsSome new photos from the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Swinley Forest film set are now online. The photos are from a SnitchSeeker visitor.  They show some buildings and some bright green material that is usually used for special effects.  You can see them in our gallery beginning here.

The person also got to ask some of the security people some questions.  Here’s what they had to say:

Firstly he said the reason for the security is that if a person or even just a torch or camera flash gets in a shot it can ruin a whole take. [He] told me they were having 150 extras on set that night, which explained the many mini-buses we saw going through the forest, and the huge catering marquee at the WB base. He said no main cast were due in that night although I noticed on Matt Lewis’s twitter that he was “rockin in from work at 4am”.

They were filming chase scenes with freerunners - the Snatchers? (he called them Catchers) - running down a slope (i think there’s a picture of the slope) towards a crowd of extras, I heard lots of shouting (”Go, go, go!” that kind of thing) which sounded like they were rehearsing the running.

They were going to be filming this till the early hours of the morning, but it eventually would be edited down to a clip less than 30 seconds long. I assume this could only be something for the Battle, with the many people and the section of Hogwarts nearby.

Finally he said that some main cast would definitely be on set filming for about an hour on Monday night, and they hoped to be all done with filming by Tuesday.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I will be in theatres on November 19, 2010, and Part II will be released on July 15, 2011.

Thanks to SnitchSeeker for letting us know!

Bonham Carter Talks Bellatrix Death Scene

Posted by Dijares On February - 25 - 2010

Helena Bonham CarterHelena Bonham Carter, who portrays Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter films, recently spoke with Rotten Tomatoes about the death scene she does in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  Here’s some of what she had to say: (**Caution for spoilers.**)

“I’m mostly in [Deathly Hallows: Part 2],” she told RT. “But it was fun. I died on my last day, which was really weird — to actually be [killed] on my last day. Molly Weasley - Julie Walters - kills me.”

And it’ll be quite the moment, she explained. “I do get a good death scene,” she told us. “It was really exhausting. As usual! [I'm] duelling, with a wand, on a table. I fell right off. I was clever enough to say, ‘If you’re going to ask me to duel, backwards, can we put a stuntman at the end?’ They said, ‘Ah, you won’t need one.’ And what did I do? Walked straight off.

“You’d think with 70 people looking at you, one of them would go, ‘Er, could you stop?!’ No! They loved it. I nearly killed myself — on the day that I died.”
