As Rhys Ifans promotes his film Greenberg, MTV asked him about being cast as Luna Lovegood’s father “Xenophilius Lovegood”. The British actor was very happy to get the “Harry Potter” call. According to him, there’s the normal phone and then there’s the “phone made from wood” which is the one you’re called upon by the “Potter people”. And then, “you get your wand out, put your cloak on, and off you go”.
I bet a lot of us would like to do that!
Ifans said he considered it an honor to be a part of the cast before the filming of the Harry Potter series was completed:
The “Potter” movies sport a sizable British cast, which means that just about everyone has some sort of shared work history with everyone else. “You just sit with all these actors you’ve starved with in the theater… sitting there dressed as wizards [and] having wand-offs. So it’s very pleasantly surreal.”
Ifans confirmed that he is in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I which will be released in movie theaters on November 19, 2010 but not in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part II which will be released in movie theaters on July 15, 2011.
