Rupert Grint, who portrays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films, will be 22 on August 24. In honor of his birthday, our friends at RupertGrint.net are planning all kinds of projects. But the closest one to their hearts, as well as the hearts of the Grint Family, is raising funds for a charity organization called BeatBullying. It is an organization that mentors victims of intense bullying and works to prevent further bullying in schools through education.
RupertGrint.net has already donated £150 (approximately $230 USD) to the cause! Here are their suggestions as to why fans may want to consider donating to this worthy cause:
- This charity is specifically recommended to us by the Grint family, so you know it’s something that Rupert will support your donation toward!
- Every £1/$1 donation will go toward helping children who have suffered the traumatic effects of bullying and making sure that the vicious cycle of bullying is broken.
- You can get creative! If you haven’t got much cash of your own to donate, start a mini-fundraiser of your own! We’re partial to bake sales, but there’s also walks, yard sales and the like! Take your pick and get going!
- Our campaign is running through JustGiving.com, a totally secure website which will automatically convert your donation to British pounds if you’re donating from outside the UK. They accept donations via credit/debit card or PayPal.
Fans who donate before August 18 can send a photo and a short message to Kait [at] rupertgrint dot net.  These photos and messages will be included in the birthday scrapbook our friends at RupertGrint.net will give to Rupert in person.
