More Pottermore Welcome Emails and Updates

Posted by Dijares On August - 25 - 2011

PottermoreThe Pottermore Insider has made another update to let everyone know that another batch of welcome emails was sent out for those who were able to register for the Pottermore beta testing.

They let everyone know that if they haven’t received a welcome email yet to please be patient.  As they send out the emails, they need to see how the website handles the new members.  They’re unable to give a schedule of when the emails will be sent out.  They said that after the next batch of emails they’re going to take a bit of a break.

Here’s much of what they had to say:

We know that you’re all checking your inboxes every time we send an update announcing that Welcome emails have gone out.

As you’ll remember from our previous Insider post, we need to start the Beta with a very small number of people in order to properly test Pottermore and collect feedback.

We know that waiting can be frustrating but the good news is that, as the Beta progresses, we’ll be increasing the number of emails we send out at any one time.

Beta phases are fluid and it’s important to watch and see how a site reacts to increasing amounts of users and activity.

Every time more people are added to Pottermore, we take a pause and look at how the site is responding to see if everything is working as we expect it to and whether we need to make changes before we let more people into Pottermore.

We are planning on giving more people early access over the next week or so and then we will pause sending Welcome emails for a while so that we can see how things are going.

Unfortunately, we can’t create a schedule to share, as we need to respond to what we learn with each group of new users. That’s also why there are gaps between the batches of Welcome emails; it all depends on what we’re learning from those who are currently on the site.

We always announce on the Insider and @Pottermore when Welcome emails are sent out, but sometimes these can take a while to arrive in your inbox, so you might get yours after the announced time. It’s always best to wait for your email to arrive before you try to log in.

Video: Freddie Stroma – Life After Hogwarts

Posted by Lilysowl On August - 25 - 2011

Freddie Stroma As well as appearing in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as “Cormac McLaggen”, Freddie Stroma was able to reprise the role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.  While promoting his film A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song (to be released on DVD on September 6), Stroma spoke to Celebuzz about his last day at “Hogwarts”:

Walk us through your last day of shooting for Harry Potter.

Mine wasn’t too bad. I think for those guys–Dan, Emma, and Rupert–they started when they were nine or ten so it had formed their entire life. I wasn’t there when they had their final wrap day so I didn’t get to see that—probably for the best though because I’d be very emotional! It was okay but it was sad. I’ve spent definitely a long time with that lot and they’re such beautiful people.

How do you feel now that it’s over?

It was definitely very sad leaving but at the same time it was nice to see now how the actors go on and do different things. It’s nice to see people moving on as well and being allowed to show off their other talents as well. I was sad when I watched the final one. I was like, “Oh, so this is over. It’s an end of an era.” I can’t think of any other scenario where you have such a big franchise. I mean, you’ve got eight films that have been going for over a decade. It’s just so strange to see it end, I guess.

Do you still keep in touch with anyone from the films?

A little bit. I’ve been in America for a while so it’s been a little bit tough. I just did a movie with Bonnie Wright and we sort of hung out, which was very cool. I guess when I’m in England I’ll give the others a ring.

Also in the interview, Stroma mentioned he obtained an agent while studying neuroscience at the university where he received his degree in the field.  And he was pleased to have the opportunity to sing in Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song which, as the title implies, is “a modern retelling of Cinderella” with comedy that appealed to him.

The following video is a sample of his singing.

Emma Watson For Del Toro’s Beauty and the Beast

Posted by Lilysowl On August - 24 - 2011

Emma Watson For the past month, there have been many online reports that director Guillermo del Toro is seriously considering Emma Watson, who completed her role as “Hermione Granger” in the Harry Potter films, to star in his gothic film production of Beauty and the Beast.  While promoting her film Crazy, Stupid, Love, producer Denise Di Novi told ComingSoon.net that she was working with Mr. del Toro to adapt the classic fairy tale for film and Watson is lined up to play the leading role.

In a recent interview, Mr. del Toro confirmed that he spoke with the Harry Potter star:

How’s the tone of the Beauty and the Beast project coming?
Well, I met with Emma Watson about it because I’m very interested in doing the movie with her. She’s just perfect for the film, and we talked about the classic iteration of the tale. I love the sort of darker, beautiful, hopelessly romantic but Gothic take on the tale. We discussed this.

At the moment, there has been no official confirmation from Watson herself about accepting the role.  But we will definitely keep you updated.

Video: Grint Chats About Post-Potter Life & Comrade

Posted by Lilysowl On August - 22 - 2011

Rupert Grint According to an online report, Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) attended Virgin Media’s V Festival in Hylands Park this past weekend.  He was able to enjoy this post-Potter event without being widely recognized by wearing “…a hoodie which zips all the way up so it’s quite easy to hide!..”

When the press caught up with Grint at the festival’s Virgin Media Louder Lounge where he received VIP treatment, he admitted how he felt about not filming any more Harry Potter films:

“It’s going to take a while to really sink in – it was quite a shock really. It all seemed to end quite suddenly but now the film’s out it is kind of closure and I’m excited to move on,” …”It has kind of been this bubble – it’s like graduating I guess. We’ve all learned so much.”

Grint added that he plans to keep in touch with his co-stars, especially with James and Oliver Phelps who portrayed “Fred and George Weasley”, as well as with Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger):

“I spend a lot of time with the twins. All of us really, we’ve all shared this quite unique experience together and we’ll always stay in touch.”

Absolute Radio was able to have this video interview with Grint in which he basically said the same thing, but they also discussed his enjoyment of the music festival and his upcoming film ComradeThe film sounds very interesting! :)
