The LA Times are reporting that Universal Studios Hollywood are planning on bringing Hogwarts to the US west coast!  According to the report, a source told them that a contract between Comcast Corp.-owned Universal and Warner Bros. should be complete within the next few weeks to start on the new theme park in Los Angeles.

Apparently Disney was also in talks to have their own Harry Potter theme park at  Disneyland in Anaheim, California, but Universal Studios ended up with the deal because of their success with their Orlando property.

The Wall Street Journal are also reporting that the park will have the Hogwarts castle, restaurants (including the Hog’s Head), and roller coasters.

The new attraction is expected to open at Universal Studios Hollywood no earlier than 2015.

Of course, this will be great for fans who live on the west coast and are unable to make it across the country to Florida.

Warner Bros. have provided us with a behind-the-scenes video from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 called Harry Returns to Hogwarts.  It includes interviews with Dan Radcliffe and director David Yates.  It’s part of the extra features from the DVD/BD that is currently released in the U.S. and will be released on December 2nd in the UK.

Alan Rickman was interviewed today on National Public Radio’s (NPR) Talk of the Nation about his current project, Seminar, which is currently on Broadway.  He also had quite a bit to say about Snape, playing villains, typecasting, and acting in general.

Mr.  Rickman states that he feels Snape had his moments with comedy.  He said that thanks to Jo Rowling that all of the teachers in the Harry Potter films will always be remembered.  He also spoke of how kids that weren’t even born when the books began are just now starting to read the books, so the ‘merry go-around keeps going on.’

We previously told you that Parts 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were nominated for the 2011 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Children’s Awards.  There awards ceremony took place last night and Deathly Hallows Part 2 won two awards! They won for best Feature Film and for the BAFTA Kid’s Vote.  You can see the entire list of winners here.

Warner Bros. have provided us with a video that includes a deleted scene that’s found on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 DVD/Blu-ray.  The video shows Harry (Dan Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) looking at the piece of Bellatrix Lestrange’s hair used for the Polyjuice Potion needed for their vault infiltration.  The DVD and Blu-ray, which is already released in the US, will be on the shelves December 2nd in the UK.

 To celebrate the eagerly anticipated Blu-ray and DVD release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in the UK, Warner Home Video, hmv and The Harry Potter Shop at Harrods are delivering a pre-Christmas treat for UK Harry Potter fans.

On December 1 starting at 5.30pm, fans will get the chance to meet some of the stars of the Harry Potter films who will make a special appearance at The Harry Potter Shop at Harrods – adjacent to the nearby hmv concession.

The actors including Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick and Griphook), James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley) and Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown) will all be on hand to meet and greet fans.

On December 2, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 will be available for purchase in the format of Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray Triple Play and DVD.  Also available on Blu-ray 3D on the same date is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection will also be released on Blu-ray and DVD and is also available exclusively to The Harry Potter Shop at Harrods as a Limited Edition Elder Wand Chest.

Due to the limited time available, access to the queue to meet the stars of the films will be strictly limited to 300. Wristbands will be issued from 10am at The Harry Potter Shop at Harrods on the day of the event on a first-come, first-served basis with a queue starting at Door 3 of the store.

Hmv will be opening up to 150 of its stores around the country especially early at 7.00am on the release day of Friday, December 2, so that fans, including those travelling to work or school, are able to purchase their copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at the earliest opportunity.

 According to her official site, Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) attended the premiere last night for the film My Week With Marilyn which starred former Harry Potter co-star Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets).  In the film, Watson played the part of “Lucy”, a wardrobe assistant.

A description of the outfit Watson wore to the premiere was posted on her site:   Emma wore a Jason Wu top, Sandro skirt, Jimmy Choo shoes, Solange Azagury-Partridge earrings and bracelet with a Charlotte Olympia clutch bag.

 To celebrate the December 2, 2011,  UK release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray Triple Play and DVD, Warner Home Video and Sainsbury’s will be offering one lucky person the chance to win a visit to their UK secondary school from Rupert Grint!  According to the competition’s webpage on Sainsbury Entertainment’s site, UK Harry Potter fans can nominate a secondary school for the chance to have Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) visit for a Q&A and personal deliveries of copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on Blu-Ray Triple Play.

UK fans, who submit a nomination, must be 12 years old and older.  The deadline is November 28, 2011.

 We previously reported that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, Orlando, are holding a special event from November 11 – 13 to help celebrate the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 that will include some of the crew and stars from the film; and that Eonline would have a livestream  of everyone on the red carpet.   

Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), who are among the cast and crew attending the event, gave Eonline’s Ben Lyon a tour of the theme park and the inside of Hogwarts castle where they rode the broomstick ride.  Click here to see the full photo of them taking a butterbeer break at the Three Broomsticks.
