According to an article posted on Radio Today, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) were among the winners of the BBC1 Radio Teen Hero awards. The awards honor the achievements of UK’s extraordinary young people. A ceremony was held yesterday at Wembley Arena with an audience of young people who were between the ages of 14-17 year olds.
The newly awarded Teen Heroes were nominated by Radio 1 listeners and chosen by a celebrity panel which included Professor Green, Louis Smith, Jessie Ware, Radio 1 DJs, journalists and experts from youth organizations.
The article quoted Ben Cooper who is the controller BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra, and had this to say about the reason for the Teen Hero awards:
“Radio 1’s Teen Awards are all about celebrating the positive contribution that teenagers make to this country. This year’s winners Jenna, Chelsea and George have done just that – helping their communities and providing inspiration for all of us.”
Radcliffe received his award for Best British Actor and Watson received hers for Female Hottie of the Year.
Highlights of the ceremony will be shown on BBC Three this evening (Monday) at 8:00pm.
