Fantastic Beasts Wins Oscar for Best Costume Design

Fantastic Beasts Wins Oscar For Costume Design!

We recently reported that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them received two Oscar nominations.  According to The Los Angeles Times, the film, based on J.K. Rowling’s novella of the same name, won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design at the 89th Academy Award Ceremony which was held the previous evening.

Personally, I’m tickled pink that Colleen Atwood, the film’s costume designer, won the award because my eye has been on Queenie’s pink coat ever since the film’s photos stills had been posted online.  Ms. Atwood had strong competition this year.  The Los Angeles Times article noted this list of the other nominees in the Best Costume Design category:

Mary Zophres, “La La Land”

Madeline Fontaine, “Jackie”

Consolata Boyle, “Florence Foster Jenkins”

Joanna Johnston, “Allied”

Our congratulations to all the winners!

I have been a newsposter for Harry Potter's Page for approximately 10 years. Yaay! I'm a Ravenclaw at Hogwarts , a Thunderbird at Ilvermorny, and my Patronus is a St. Bernard dog, according to Pottermore! Yaaayy! **Women are angels. And when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly...on a broomstick. We're flexible like that.**
