According to an article posted by The Radio Times, Pottermore (J.K. Rowling’s official site for Harry Potter news and information) announced that Warner Bros. Pictures and the production team of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them are holding open calls for five young people to portray five new characters for the second Fantastic Beasts film.
There is also an open call for actors between the ages of 13 and 16 to play a young Newt, Leta Lestrange and a new character named Sebastian. Another call is for actors between the ages of 16 and 18 to portray Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindewald.
The fact that young actors are needed to portray these familiar characters in an earlier part of their lives will certainly create some fun speculations among fans as to what wizard stories will be revealed in this sequel. Considering we had just seen Johnny Depp as Grindewald in the first film and Jude Law recently received the role of Dumbledore in the upcoming second one, I am personally excited to see how closely they will be resembled by the ones who are chosen from this open call.
To apply for the open call auditons:
Mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org: 1) a recent color photograph (taken within the past two months) 2) telephone number 3) home address and (4) date of birth. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian send the application.
Acting experience is not necessary. However, applicants need to be eligible to work in the UK (meaning they must be a UK, Irish or EU passport holder), and be available for filming between August and November 2017.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at midnight GMT. Applicants will be contacted by the production team within 14 days of their submission if any further consideration is needed. Every applicant will be considered, but only those passing the initial consideration round will be contacted.
We wish you luck! After all, Evanna Lynch received the role as “Luna Lovegood” in an open call audition and Faith Wood-Blagrove obtained the role of “Modesty” in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them from an open call audition as well.
