Posted by Lilysowl On November - 17 - 2009

Bonnie Wright Today, Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) made the following statement on his Twitter:

MattdaveLewis:  Ladies and Gentlemen, before I disappear for days again I’d like to introduce you to a friend of mine… @bonniefwright

And of course, I checked this out and discovered Bonnie Wright, the actress who portrays “Ginny Weasley” in the Harry Potter films is now on Twitter.

Hmmm…I wonder what name belongs to the middle initial  ”F”.  She typed a lovely bio statement.  I realize I’m late with this news since her first Tweet was on Nov 4.  But it’s still exciting. :D

Bonnie Wright: 7 Questions From Starworks

Posted by Lilysowl On August - 31 - 2009

Bonnie WrightStarworks asked Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films) seven questions while she was promoting Half-Blood Prince last month.  Here is an excerpt from the interview:

3. What is the one book that changed your life?
I was at that age when you see books as as a real sort of problem and you cant be bothered to read them because you’ve only been told by your teachers… but then I read The Great Gatsby by Scott Fitzgerald. That is sort of when I started to enjoy reading.

4. When did you feel most broke (penniless)?
Probably when I was really young, saving up for petty things like a magazine or sweets, counting the pennies rather than pounds.

5. What was the most important thing you lost?
God, I used to always be losing things when I was younger like my my mobile phone, then I began borrowing my moms hand bags and loosing those. I think I learned a lesson after my parents started hating me [for that], so I’ve really decided to cling hold of everything I have. I haven’t lost anything for quite a while!

Bonnie Wright in SheKnows

Posted by Dijares On August - 9 - 2009

Bonnie WrightBonnie Wright, who portrays Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films, recently spoke with SheKnows. The article also contains a new photo, which you can see here. In the article, she talks about her brother, if she’s missed out on anything, and how she and Dan got prepared for some of their scenes together, including the kissing scene, in Half-Blood Prince, and more.  Here are a few excerpts:

SheKnows: When did you first find out that Harry and Ginny were going to be a couple?

Bonnie Wright: When I read the book. People kept going ‘Oh, have you got to page 400-something?’ ‘No! Don’t tell me!’

SheKnows: So tell us more about you and Dan meeting before shooting to talk about your scenes.

Bonnie Wright: A lot of it was both of us chatting with David Yates just on how to make it subtle relationship that grew. If it just happened all of a sudden, it doesn’t give much longevity to the idea that, at the end, they end up being together . I guess Dan and I looked at how they got drawn toward one another and it becomes, not a shock to them, but they realize it with each other.

SheKnows: She seemed to always fancy Harry but he didn’t seem to return the crush.
Bonnie: Harry’s character never had feelings for her and she had already had those feelings but sort of forgot about them and then Harry starts to realize something that he didn’t think was in him. So, I think that was what we wanted to look at. How these moments of tension that grow between them are always separated by something that’s happening or by Ron interrupting.

SheKnows: Or by plopping himself down between you.

Bonnie Wright: (laughs) Yeah.

SheKnows: On to the Ginny-Harry kiss. Was it awkward on set to get close like that with so many people, crewmembers watching?

Bonnie Wright: It was weird. They make it more of a closed set but there are still a lot of people involved and it’s weird because, not only knowing Dan for so long but all the same crew too so it’s a bit like ‘oh, we’re doing that scene today’. They know it’s difficult but I think there were too scared to tease us about it.

SheKnows: So what is your secret to not letting all this bother you?

Bonnie Wright: You do forget everyone around you. You have to. Especially in this scene when Ginny and Harry come together. There’s just the two of them in this room and it’s quite an intimate moment and there’s this element of secrecy so you do have to forget everyone’s there to make it this magical moment between them. You just make this bubble for just the two of you.

SheKnows: There is the fun and comic use of some love potions in the film. If you really liked a guy, would you use a love potion on him if it were available and you knew it would work?

Bonnie Wright: God, yeah! (we laugh). Well, you could…but, would it wear off and then it’s short-lived? I could. It’s a little bit cheating but I don’t see why not. Give it a go.

SheKnows: What would you like your fans to know that no one ever asks you?

Bonnie Wright: I guess I’d like them to know that I’m not only interested in the acting part of filming, I interested in the bigger picture. I’ve been inspired by everything that I’ve watched while filming, I’m interested in the cinematography, directing…

SheKnows: Where will you go to film school?

Bonnie Wright: University of the Arts – London, the main one. So far I’ve been able to balance an education with a career. I’d love to continue acting while studying film but, if I can’t, then just to focus on learning. I’d love to learn for three years then, when I have summer breaks, to do different parts and projects.

Bonnie Wright Sews a Button for Made-By

Posted by Dijares On August - 3 - 2009

Bonnie WrightWe previously told you that Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films) would be attending the Pure Fashion Exhibition in Olympia, London on August 2nd. While there, she and Georgia Groome sewed a button onto a dress.

According to Made-By’s press release, the dress was “embroidered with a map of the world. The map shows the path of the dress from organic cotton grown in India, through to the socially certified spinner and weaver, and then onto the dress designer in the UK.”

Made-By “works with fashion brands to improve the social and environmental aspects of their entire supply chain using a step-by-step approach. The blue button MADE-BY label is then used on clothing to communicate the brand’s commitment towards continuous improvement.”

Bonnie Wright stated: “I’ve always been very interested in fashion, but it is extremely important to me that the social and environmental issues associated with the production of fashionable clothing are addressed. MADE-BY carries out really important work in transforming the fashion industry, and I am thrilled to support the organisation and help raise awareness of these ongoing issues.”

You can see some photos of her and Georgia at the event in our gallery here.
