Emma Watson For Del Toro’s Beauty and the Beast

Posted by Lilysowl On August - 24 - 2011

Emma Watson For the past month, there have been many online reports that director Guillermo del Toro is seriously considering Emma Watson, who completed her role as “Hermione Granger” in the Harry Potter films, to star in his gothic film production of Beauty and the Beast.  While promoting her film Crazy, Stupid, Love, producer Denise Di Novi told ComingSoon.net that she was working with Mr. del Toro to adapt the classic fairy tale for film and Watson is lined up to play the leading role.

In a recent interview, Mr. del Toro confirmed that he spoke with the Harry Potter star:

How’s the tone of the Beauty and the Beast project coming?
Well, I met with Emma Watson about it because I’m very interested in doing the movie with her. She’s just perfect for the film, and we talked about the classic iteration of the tale. I love the sort of darker, beautiful, hopelessly romantic but Gothic take on the tale. We discussed this.

At the moment, there has been no official confirmation from Watson herself about accepting the role.  But we will definitely keep you updated.

Young Harry Potter Cast ‘Plays Well With Others’

Posted by Lilysowl On July - 15 - 2011

Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert GrintIn anticipation of today’s theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2a scanned article from the Ocala Banner noted:  “If the young cast of the ‘Harry Potter’ films received report cards for their school days at Hogwarts, they’d all probably earn the notation ‘ plays well with others’.

This shouldn’t be too surprising considering the elite British actors and actresses like Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart) and Ciaran Hinds (Aberforth Dumbledore), as well as the recurring ones such as Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) and Dame Maggie Smith (Minerva McGonagall), who ‘played’ with them to create the world of Harry Potter onscreen.  But the article was actually pointing out how well the trio themselves (Daniel Radcliffe as “Harry”, Rupert Grint as “Ron”, and Emma Watson as “Hermione), along with their co-stars like Matthew Lewis as “Neville”, Tom Felton as “Draco”, and Bonnie Wright as “Ginny”, managed their 11 years of fame from starring in “Hollywood’s biggest fantasy franchise”, specifically the film adaptations of  the books about the boy wizard by J.K. Rowling.

“It’s very different doing it in England,” the article quoted Radcliffe, “In America, you’re treated as an actor first and a kid second.  Here, you’re very much treated as a kid first and an actor second. In fact, you’re not really treated as an actor. You’re treated as a kid on a film set, which is how it should be, because that’s all you are that point.  No one’s an actor at 12.”

The article went on to observe that the parents of the young cast were an asset in guiding their children through the past ten years of filming and handling the celebrity madness.

“We couldn’t have done it without the family support that’s kept all three of them and the supporting cast all lovely, lovely people,” the article quoted David Barron who is one of the producers, “They’ve got very strong families who kept them really strongly grounded.”…

“It was a place that was just us, nobody else,” the article quoted the other producer, David Heyman who commented on the isolated location of Leavesden Studios in the UK where all the Harry Potter films were made, “That has enabled us to sort of cocoon ourselves in an environment, in a way, that I think is a supportive and safe one.”…

So by the time they became young adults, the trio and their young supporting cast developed “strong work ethics” and it was noted by the filmmakers that the stars did adopt some traits of the characters they portrayed:

Like Harry, Radcliffe assumed a solicitous leadership role, sort of a goodwill ambassador on set (which Helen McCrory who portrayed “Narcissa Malfoy” mentions here).  Like Hermione, Watson was studious, hurling herself into her education.  Like Ron Weasley, Grint had a playful humor and the support of a large family.

According to the article, now that the trio has “graduated” from Hogwarts quite well with the release of the final Harry Potter film, they are having no problems in obtaining adult roles.  For Radcliffe is currently on Broadway in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying and completed The Woman In Black which will be released in theaters early next year.  Watson is continuing her studies with Brown University and appeared in the upcoming film My Week With Marilyn.  And Grint worked on the film Comrade.

Video: Emma and Tom On Access Hollywood

Posted by Lilysowl On July - 11 - 2011

Hermione from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2Emma Watson did a nice interview with NBC-TV’s Access Hollywood to promote the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.  She mentioned how influential Hermione’s character was while playing the best friend of Harry Potter half her life for “8 to 9 hours a day”.  She admitted that influence started when she was 9 years old during the audition process for the first Harry Potter film.

Access Hollywood also had the opportunity to interview Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) during the past weekend’s press junket for the final film.  He was asked to respond to Emma’s ”confession” to Seventeen magazine (which we reported here) about her past crush on him.

“Very flattering,” Tom told Access Hollywood at the junket for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” in New York City on Sunday of his reaction to the news.

The British actor said it was others who actually told him about Emma’s crush.

“We’re going back a few years here… I heard it through the grapevine. And the eventually we became good friends,” he said.

“We can laugh about it now, but as testament to how long we’ve been doing this for, I’m pretty sure she was about 9, possibly 10… but yeah, [it was] very flattering,” he added.

Also, he discussed the changes “Draco Malfoy” went through in the eight films like realizing that “Lucius Malfoy” (played by Jason Isaacs) may not be so wonderful after all.

Video: Emma & Rupert On The Today Show

Posted by Lilysowl On July - 11 - 2011

Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) Prior to their appearance at the New York City premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron) made separate appearances on NBC-TV’s The Today Show.

Emma was in an early segment, signing autographs outside before the show’s hosts spoke to her in the square.  She mainly spoke about how she felt privileged to have played a character like “Hermione” and will miss being in her world.  The hosts wished her a belated happy birthday (it was in April) which brought up the subject of how Emma requested a portrait of herself as a birthday present to herself; and in turn, he had requested doing a few paintings of her (which are shown in the clip).

As for Rupert, he appeared in the segment with Kathie Lee and Hoda.  They discussed his audition for the first film, Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiere in London, his friendship with Emma and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), mentioning how impressed he was with Dan’s show How To Success In Business Without Really Trying  currently playing on Broadway, and of course, his kissing scene with Emma in the final film.

Posted by Dijares On July - 1 - 2011

Hermione from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2Another awesome featurette from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is now online.  It’s titled ‘Disguises’ and discusses mainly Hermione’s (Emma Watson) disguise as Bellatrix Lestrange during the Gringotts vault scene.  However, Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) portrays Hermione who is portraying Bellatrix.  Which, in the video, looks to be quite fun and hilarious.  The video also shows us how Ron (Rupert Grint) uses a disguise for the same scene.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 will be in theatres July 15, 2011. See the world-wide release dates here.

Video: Emma Watson Talks To Seventeen

Posted by Lilysowl On June - 28 - 2011

With the upcoming release of the final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on July 15, it appears that Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) now has no problem confirming rumors to Seventeen magazine (for their August issue) that she did have a crush on Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) during the filming of the first two Harry Potter films:

“He was my first crush… “He totally knows. We talked about it — we still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that’s cool.”

Our friends at Feltbeats.com could relate to that; however, Watson also mentioned to Seventeen that she could not imagine having a crush on a celebrity she had not met:

“I’ve never understood having crushes on people who you don’t know in real life. I only crush on people I meet. I mean, I can appreciate that someone is good-looking, obviously, but I don’t intend to fantasize about people I don’t know!”

Watson also told Seventeen what activities she likes to do when she does have enough free time:

“I dance a lot and I run and do yoga and play field hockey and tennis. I like to be active. I don’t always have time for that stuff, but I do always feel better afterward.”

And what she would have done if she hadn’t been given the part of “Hermione Granger”:

“If I hadn’t done Harry Potter, I would have gone and done years of art. I really do love it, and I’d love to write.”

In this video, Watson describes her personal style as we watch her cover shoot for the August issue:

Emma Watson on Vogue

Posted by Aragorn On June - 14 - 2011

Emma Watson at 2011 MTV AwardsActress Emma Watson who plays Hermione in the Harry Potter films is featured as the cover girl of the July 2011 issue of Vogue magazine. Inside is a lengthy interview featuring comments of several of her coworkers. The entire article is available online at Vogue.com.

Here’s a excerpt:

“She talks in fighting metaphors. “I have felt for the last ten years I have had this battle; I’ve been fighting so hard to have an education. It’s been this uphill struggle,” she says, clenching her hands as she speaks. “I was Warner Bros.’ pain in the butt. I was their scheduling conflict. I was the one who made life difficult.” Finally, Emma took the brave step of announcing that she would not renew her contract for the last two films unless changes were made to accommodate her desire to go to university. Warner Bros. agreed to do everything humanly possible, and, she says, “I just realized at one point that I can’t fight everything. I have to move in the direction of it—and go with it.”
