Don’t Forget To Vote Harry Potter At MTV

Posted by Lilysowl On April - 8 - 2010

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceWe previously reported that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince received five nominations for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards:

Personally, I was surprised that Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) were not nominated for Best Kiss nor wereRadcliffe and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) nominated for Best Fight; so I took it upon myself to add them.  And now, I expect some support from fellow Harry Potter fans to click here and vote.  The deadline is tomorrow, Friday April 9.

Although it wasn’t for their work in the Harry Potter films, two stars from the series were also nominated for the Best Villian category.  They are Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) for his role as “Carnegie” in The Book of Eli and Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) for her role as “the Red Queen” in Alice In Wonderland.  And of course, Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) was also nominated for Best Global Superstar and Best Male Performance for his roles as “Edward Cullen” in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and “Tyler” in Remember Me.

We wish all the nominees luck!

Winners will be announced live at the MTV Movie Awards ceremony on Sunday, June 6 on MTV at 9:00pm EST.

It’s a Pawscar for Half-Blood Prince

Posted by Dijares On March - 3 - 2010

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceHarry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has received a Pawscar from American Humane.  American Humane is the organization that ensures the safety of animals while on film sets and are the only organization with the authority to issue the statement that no animals were harmed during filming.

So, how in the world does one get a Pawscar? Well, first, you have to be an animal. And, second, you have to be in a film.  The animal in Half-Blood Prince who received this Pawscar is Uno, the Mastiff.  Her trainers took a lot of time to help her learn to be in a film, especially as she was abused in her former household.

Best Newcomer Actor: ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’

A Neapolitan mastiff named “Uno” had been adopted by her owners/trainers prior to becoming a rookie animal actor. Trainers speculate that she was abused by a previous owner because she initially would cower around noises and crouch to the floor upon being approached too suddenly. But, while working on the set of “Harry Potter,” surrounded by a patient owner/trainer and other affectionate cast and crew members, she gained confidence and trust and adored the attention everyone gave her. Trainers believe Uno is destined to be an admired movie star in no time!

Nicholas Hooper & HBP Soundtrack Giveaway

Posted by Lilysowl On January - 29 - 2010

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceThis afternoon, I received my  January email  issue of the official Harry Potter newsletter from Warner Bros.  In recognition of the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince soundtrack being nominated for a Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television, or Other Visual Media, there is an interview with the composer Nicholas Hooper in the newsletter.

He mentions his favorite scene to score was Harry and Dumbledore’s journey to the cave.  The “Unbreakable Vow” scene with Snape, Bellatrix, and Narcissa was one of the difficult scenes to score.  Hooper admits there are musical reminiscents to his musical composition for Order of The Phoenix because his intention was to show a connection between the two movies.  For example, “Umbridge Theme” in Order of the Phoenix and “Living Death” in Half-Blood Prince are similar because Professor Umbridge and Professor Slughorn were new teachers: “How Will Slughorn turn out?  Can we trust him?”

Click here to subscribe to the newsletter and read the complete interview.

Once you subscribe, you’re eligible for a free mp3 dowload of “Friends and Love” from the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince soundtrack.  And if you follow @harrypotterfilm on Twitter this weekend, you will have a chance to win the soundtrack!

Another way to receive a free Half-Blood Prince soundtrack is to purchase the Harry Potter Years 1-6 Blu-ray Gift Set at WBshop.com  Click here for more information.
