Update Potter Bolt: Frankenstein, Apes, Cinderella, More!

Posted by Dijares On February - 28 - 2013

Potter BoltWell, it’s been a little while since I’ve done a Potter Bolt, but I think the news coming out today about some of our favorite Harry Potter stars deems a Bolt necessary.

First off, Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) is in final negotiations for the role of Igor in a new rendition of Frankenstein, says Variety. The film is expected to start filming this fall, after his run on the West End in London with the play Cripple of Irishmaan.

Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) will have the lead role in the new film Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.  The film, where Oldman will be the leader of the human colony, is set 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes, in which Harry Potter co-star Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) starred in.

Speaking of Felton… he’s signed on for the Wizard World St. Louis Comic Con. This con takes place March 22-24. Get more info here.

UPDATE: It is being reported that Emma Watson is looking at signing on for the title  role in Dinsey’s live action film of Cinderella!  Cate Blanchett is already signed on to play the role of the evil step-mother. Production is set to start this fall in London.

Potter Bolt: Rickman, Lynch, Radcliffe, Felton, & Watson

Posted by Dijares On September - 8 - 2012

Alan Rickman in GambitToday we have quite a few tidbits on what the Harry Potter actors are up to.

First, a new poster for Alan Rickman’s (Severus Snape) new project, Gambit, is now online.  Gambit, which also stars Cameron Diaz, Stanley Tucci, and Colin Firth, is a remake of the original film from 1966.  Alan Rickman stars as Lionel Shahbandar, who is essentially a bossy boss.  You can see the poster here.  The film is expected to be in theatres sometime in the winter of 2013.

Dan Radcliffe’s (Harry Potter) co-star in Kill Your Darlings, Jack Huston, spoke with MTV regarding Dan’s portrayal of poet Allen Ginsberg, stating that people will be surprised by his performance.

A new trailer for Emma Watson’s (Hermione Granger) newest film, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, is now online.  The film will be in theatres in just a few weeks, on September 20, 2012.

An update has been posted on Tom Felton’s (Draco Malfoy) newest project, Fangs of War, stating that principal photography begins November 5, 2012.  Filming will take place in Toronto.

Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) will be starring in a new Sky series called Sinbad.  A new clip is now online.

Potterbolt: Grint & Rickman, Cars & Set

Posted by Dijares On July - 2 - 2012

Potter BoltThe first photos  of Alan Rickman (Professor Snape) on the set of his latest film CBGB are now online.  You can see Rickman, alongside Ashley Greene (from the Twilight films), with long, curly hair here.  He’ll soon be joined by another Harry Potter star, Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), who is also part of this film.

But, for now, Rupert is in England.  In fact, yesterday, he was found at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in the passenger seat of a sports car, and having loads of fun.  You can check out some photos of him over at ICM here!

Potter Bolt: Dan, Emma, Clémence, Maggie, Bill & Gary

Posted by Dijares On May - 3 - 2012

Potter BoltDan Radcliffe looks to be signing on for another period role.  This time he’s to play a younger Jon Hamm in a four-part British mini-series.  The series, which is to air on Sky Arts in the UK, takes place just after World War I and is about Russian doctors.  It follows the characters during different time periods.

Emma Watson is in negotiations for a cameo appearance as herself in Seth Rogen’s End of the World.  Others that will be in the film include Jason Segel and David Krumholtz, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride andCraig Robinson. The actors are set to have a little fun with this film where it’s unknown if they’ll make it out alive.

UPDATE:  The film Birdsong starring Clémence Poesy (Fleur Delacour), which was seen in two parts on PBS-TV’s Masterpiece last week, is now available to view online until May 22 and May 29.  Click here to view it.

The older Harry Potter stars Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall) and Bill Nighy (Rufus Scrimgeour) are part of an ensemble cast in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel which opens tomorrow (Friday, May 4).  I recommed watching the trailer (below) because Maggie Smith has the funniest lines compared to the rest of the cast, though Nighy has one or two good ones himself.

The official trailer for The Dark Night Rises, which has been posted online, reveals that once again Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) will be portraying Commissioner Gordon.  This also can be viewed below.  The film will be released in movie theaters in July of this year.

Potter Bolt: Tom, Dan, and Rupert Staying Busy!

Potter BoltToday’s Potter Bolt shows that the Harry Potter stars aren’t taking any breaks.

Dan Radcliffe, who’s been busy this week promoting his latest film The Woman in Black, is getting ready to start on his newest project, Kill Your Darlings. This film, in which Dan stars as Allen Ginsberg, is centered around a murder that takes place in 1944.  The film’s release date is expected in 2013.  But it looks like filming may be taking place this Monday, the 19th, in New York City.  He stars with Elizabeth Olsen, Michael C. Hall, Ben Foster, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kyra Sedgwick, amongst others.

Rupert Grint, along with Chloe Grace Moretz, has signed onto a new project about Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson called The Drummer.  Rupert will star as Stan Shapiro, a mail room intern at a talent agency that becomes friends with Wilson.  Filming for this starts in June and the film will be in theatres in 2013.

Tom Felton confirmed that he’s signed a letter of intent for a new film called Fangs of War.  Filming should start in Eastern Europe this June.  He’ll star with Dominic Purcell and Celina Jade.  His character’s name is Dr. John Seward, ‘a Freudian-schooled psychiatrist more experienced in theory than practice who’s itching to get out on the battle field.’  It’s expected to be in theatres sometime in early 2013.

Tom is also expected to attend the Chicago ComicCon, which takes place August 9 – 12, 2012, at Conald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosement, Illinois. Get more information here.
