Pattinson: Photo From The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Posted by Lilysowl On June - 21 - 2010

The Twilight Saga: EclipseIn less than 10 days (June 30), Robert Pattinson’s latest film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be released in movie theaters.  Summit Entertainment kindly sent us a photo still from the film which was printed with an article about Rob Pattinson in yesterday’s (Sunday) issue of The New York Times.  Click here to see the photo in our photo gallery.  It is a better view of “Edward”s golden eyes.

The article mentioned the Twilight films being as successful as the Harry Potter films in terms of a franchise:

The only movie franchise that remotely compares to “Twilight” in terms of popularity and the number of films starring the same cast is “Harry Potter.” But as the “Harry Potter” stories have progressed, Daniel Radcliffe has been allowed to grow up. By his “Twilight” character’s very nature — a vampire who doesn’t age — Mr. Pattinson is largely stuck.

By portraying “Cedric Diggory” in Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix as well as headlining the Twilight films as “Edward Cullen”, Pattinson has the rare luck of an actor to be known for two successful franchises.  But he isn’t the only one.  Jamie Campbell Bower who was seen as “Caius” in The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be seen as “Grindewald” in Deathly Hallows.

The article also mentioned how Pattinson’s career evolved from Harry Potter/Twilight by starring in Remember Me, Little Ashes, and Bel Ami.  Currently, he is filming Water For Elephants with Reese Witherspoon and Christopher Waltz.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceWe previously reported that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was nominated for a National Movie Award in the Family category.  We are happy to now report that the film won the award plus the Special Recognition Award.  Although we also mentioned that the three stars (Dan Radcliffe-Harry, Rupert Grint-Ron, and Emma Watson-Hermione) were each nominated for the Performance of the Year category, along with Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney) for her Nanny McPhee role, it was Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory) for his role as “Edward Cullen” in the Twilight films who won that award.

Here is the video of Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), and Dan Radcliffe accepting the award in the Family category.

Here is the video of Watson, Wright, Radcliffe, director David Yates, and the producers David Heyman and David Barron accepting the Special Recognition Award.

Here is a video of an overview of the Harry Potter films that was shown at the award ceremony with a commentary by David Tennant who portrayed Barty Crouch, Jr. in Goblet of Fire but became very popular as the Tenth Doctor in the Doctor Who series.  There’s even a sneak peek at Deathly Hallows!

As noted, Robert Pattinson won for Performance of the Year. Due to his filming schedule for Water for Elephants, he was not able to attend the event. So, his acceptance was broadcast via video from the set.
