Already placed my order with Amazon. I may not have it at midnight, but even with standard shipping I should have it later in the day. I could stay up and go to our local Wal-Mart (the nearest Borders/Media Play/etc) is about an hour away), but if I can save half the cost and only have to wait a few more hours I don't mind.

Besides...something just seems wrong about a midnight release party at a Wal-Mart.

I was part of the mass mania at our local Border's last book release. I swore I would never do that again, especially when I was able to come back the next afternoon, when no one was there, and pick up my copy with no fuss. This time, I'll wait until the day after the pandemonium breaks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif)

I usually end up getting my book within the first two or so days of it's realease, I've never been allowed to go to the realease at midnight but, this year will be different, because, 11 days beofre the book comes out, I'll be 17, and my mom wont have much to say over it then, will she? No, actually, I just figured she'd never let me go, so I never asked, well I did once, but she wasn't willing to wait with me, and she would be my ride home. Though when I said she could leave, then come back and get me in a few hours, she like flipped, she said I wasn't going to leave me infront of the book store, at 12:00 in the morning, on one of the busiest street's, in our city. Now I'll just drive there, or catch a ride with another friend. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dragon.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gandalf.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Hah, I've had my British version ordered when Amazon UK opened up the ordering process. So I'll be set. The American version.... I'll go to the local grocery store and get that at midnight. Now hopefully she hasn't killed one of my kids off so I'm not wasting my money. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bigeyes2.gif)

I pre-ordered it last month, at Amazon.co.uk, for £20. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Atta girl Nina. Of course you will get yours before I get mine, but I'll have read the American version (well I hope) before it gets to me.

If you do, please don't tell me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Just checked in the calendar, and I really hope that Amazon.co.uk thinks about it, and sends it earlier... The 21st is on a Saturday, and we don't get any mail on Saturdays, only the newspaper.

I will also pre-order it at my bookstore (BN) at a reduced price, and be there at midnight to pick it up. Actually last time we got two copies, and this time, I might just get 3!! I am not willing to take turns with my copy, so it seems unfair to expect the boys to share theirs.

Last time, I donated one to our school library, so more kids who don't get to buy it could read it. The school never has one when they open in August, and it makes me sad for those kids whose parents don't GET IT!!! This time just might get 2 donations on the first day of school.

Am I spoiling my kids if I don't make them share one? I usually make them share everything.

I went for a midnight release for 'Phoenix' and 'Prince' and it wasn't to bad, the problem was it gets so damp at night here that the dust covers started curling up something fierce and I ended up having to put the books away to get them dried up a little.

So this time as much as I would like to be reading it at midnight and all, I think I'll wait for the mail/UPS guy to deliver it later in the day when I can read it away from the night air. The dampness thing wouldn't be an issue if I had air conditioning and didn't have to leave my windows open at night, but I've been losing the AC debate for years. Besides, money is a little tight right now, and if I can get it at a discount, more power to me.

I prefer to go to the fun parties and get it at midnight! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I did this for HBP and had so much fun with my friend! We answered "hard" questions about HP(they were hard for everyone, besides one girl, one boy, and me) and ate ice cream(this had nothing to do with the book store, Borders, the ice cream store was across the little, for lack of better word, courtyard).

Hey Molly! I don't think you're spoiling the boys by getting each a copy. ESPECIALLY if you're donating the books to your school when school starts. That is so awesome. I'm going to do that, too. In fact, we have several copies of several of the books (because aunts & uncles & grandparents gave some as presents over the past few years). I'll have my kids go through them all and find the best of each copy and we'll take them down to the school, too.

I ordered only one copy of Book 7. When the last two books came out, our family was on holiday and thus not home to receive our book in the mail. So we ended up buying one copy at a bookstore whereever we were -- and sharing it until we got home. (We got the "last" copy of OOP in Indianapolis according the Barnes and Noble sales person we bought it from on the day that one was released.)

So, this summer we may very well be travelling somewhere and decide to purchase another copy. If not, then we'll buy one anyway for our school. Thanks for the idea, Molly.

I just want to tell everyone who has ordered the book from Amazon.co.uk, that the book is on £8.99 now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Luckily, the book comes out at 9:01a, here in Aus. So I won't have to stay up all night. I thought about ordering it from Borders in the city, but thats a 15 min drive and a longer que, which means I have to wait longer for it. So I ordered it from the local bookshop, no where near as long ques and only a 2-5 min drive. YAY! Now I think I will have to read in in two days flat (which is what I also did with OOTP & HBP), as I have school that monday and will not let anyone have the chance of ruining the ending. Plus I doubt I will physically be able to put it down!

Why is it that whenever I'm sure of something something else pops up?! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) My mom told me that she ordered the book just now and I was sooooo suprised!

Wow! I wonder why they're selling it so cheap. I was suprised when they said they were selling it for $13 and then I found out they were selling it for $18. Hmmm...I wonder what happened? Well, actually, I guess it makes sense if you're lucky enough to have pre-ordered it.

I saw that Nina, I was ecstatic! Now I have to look for the best deal in town, that is if I want to stand in line. Otherwise I'll just go to the local grocery store and buy it.

No offense, Baty, but I would never think of buying DH in a grocery store! Okay! Did that sound more rude than I meant it! Sorry! I'll shut up now! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/footinmouth.gif)

Well first off, no offense taken, but I have to say why not? Except for the price, the book is going to look and read the same. I bet I'd get my book much faster at a grocery store then standing in a very long line. Though for every book except the first one I have always been the first in line.

But if you feel you are too good to go to a grocery store then so be it. I am not in the least concerned about it. Though I'd like to get the better price, time will tell if I want to be bothered with the crowds.

I agree with you on that Baty. I lined up for OOTP with my brother. He dissapeared and came back two minutes later with his copy. I was still waiting in line! He'd gone to see if K-Mart had it and they did. With no line waiting. However, I had ordered mine already so I had to wait another 10 minutes after that while he stood there reading his copy infront of me!

Oh now that is a bummer. I got my copy of HBP right away, and on the way home, I was reading it, and I had a car next to me, while stopped at a red light, beep his horn at me, and ask me if I was reading the new Harry Potter book. It was funny. I said yes very proudly. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
