Who is your most and least favorite character(s)? Why?
Most favorite : 1. Harry (no doubt about that.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) 2. Dumbledore (calm, genius, great composure, powerful wizard, not arrogant and so on.. too much to tell (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) ) 3. Ginny (lovely (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) ) 4. Albus Severus (I don't know why.. Maybe because he's so cute and innocent (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) ) Least Favorite : 1. Dolores Umbridge (i couldn't even begin to describe how much i despise her.. yikes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/crazy.gif) ) 2. Rita Sketeer (typical paparazzi that would do everything, liar who fed people with lies, snake (IMG:style_emoticons/default/snake.gif) ) 3. Bellatrix Lestrange (she was a DE and she became one voluntarily.. what's up with that? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) ) PS : I don't understand.. Why would anyone became DE voluntarily? How messed up you must be to became one.. I would understand if someone who was forced to became one.. But voluntarily??? Get real and see your shrink (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yuck.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/comp26.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/comp26.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/comp26.gif) It wasn't the computers that i was trying to hit, if you know what i mean.. Loved...
1. Sirius. He was a father, a brother, a friend to Harry when he needed it most. 2. Luna. Ahh...she was just so funny, so kind. she treated everyone so well even when they were cruel to her. 3. Lupin. I just, like him. Ok that's my reason. Hated 1. Snape. My list for this is so huge, Im not going to post it again so just see my comments elsewhere 2. Bellatrix. She took my Sirius. 3. Voldemort. Obvious. |

Since the Trio is kind of a given- 1. Neville. I've just thought him as funny since the first book 2. The Twins (Gred and Forge). Always a laugh 3. Hagrid. A true gentle (half) giant Least Favorite Since Voldemort is a given as well- 1.Cho Chang. She played with Harry's emotions 2. Percy. Can't be forgiven for what he did in Book 5&6 3. Lucius Malfoy/Fudge both because they're evil gits By the way, I also like Umbridge and Bellatrix, because they're soo evil This post has been edited by You-Know-Poo: Jul 31 2007, 12:44 AM |

1. Dumbledore- Flawed or Perfect my love for him is the same. 2. Severus Snape- I think my list of reasons for loving snape are just as long as TPOA's reasons for hating him. 3. Sirius Black - Finally Harry had someone who he could call family. Least Favorite 1. Lucius Malfoy- I just can't stand him! 2. Bellatrix Lestrange- She killed my Sirius! Go Molly Weasley! 3. Cornelius Fudge/ Marietta - cowards and traitors that's all I have to say about that. This post has been edited by albusseverus: Aug 18 2007, 07:23 PM |

Most Favorite
1. Severus Snape- Sad tortured soul who made mistakes in his life, but in the end chose love above all else. No, I wouldn't want to hang out with him, but as far as interesting and complex characters go, he's tops on the list. His story was the only one that made me cry. 2. Sirius Black - Poor sirius, harry's only family. He was the quintessential godfather and a much better father figure to Harry than Dumblemore ever was. 3. Hermione Granger - I like smart girls and she's the smartest of the bunch. Least Favorite 1. Lucius Malfoy- To me, he's worse than Voldemort because his reasons for evil deeds are merely for greed, power and glory. At least Voldemort had a horrible childhood that lead to his hatred of people. Malfoy had no excuse. 2. Cornelius Fudge - both for being cowardly and stupid/naive. 3. Draco Malfoy - I don't like bullies and he's the biggest bully of them all. I despise that he got off in the end for all of the things that he's done. |

I absolutely love Hermione as you can tell! Her wits, her unexpected actions, her weird mind(i.e telling Harry that he can't hit a baby when that baby was a DE-OotP), etc. If I had to pick someone I hate in the books I would have to say Rita Skeeter.

All depends how you look at things
My favorite characters are determined by how interesting they are, not if they are good or evil Favorites 1. Umbridge... She is SO EVIL, she made book 5, seeing her thwarted was awesome, I LOVE to hate her. A character you can loathe that much is great. I can read book 5 over and over just to see her defeated. 2. Luna Lovegood... She is such a great character, So odd, with her theories and off handed comments... Loosers Lurgy, getting the name of the Quidditch players totally wrong and not even close. 3. Severus Snape... He is so interesting trying to figure out which side he was really on, you were never really sure until you saw his past. 4. Albus Dumbledore... He knew so much, and had a very interesting outlook on the way things really were, he was able to predict the future. 5. Sirius Black... Such a tragic character, he never really knew happiness from the day James Potter died. As for my least favorites, those that were not developed as well as I had hoped, or were very shallow, or just annoying 1. Pansy Parkinson... She was just plain annoying. 2. Cormac McLaggen... I am kind of surprised that Harry never knew of him before his 6th year, he was such a jerk and would have been quite visible in his first 5 years at Hogwarts. I realize he was a new character to the series, but still... 3. Rita Skeeter... She didnt care about anyone but herself. She was more of a nuisance than a threat, and seeing her Dumbledore writings made me loathe her even more. 4. Peeves... Initially he was interesting but in the end he was just annoying... Though I did love when he was giving Umbridge a bad time. 5. Madam Maxime... I found Karkarov a much more interesting character, would like to have seen her flushed out more. Now Bellatrix gets her own special place because she is probably the characte I hated the most in the books |

Arsi, whilst I admire you for choosing favourites based on there character progression rather than pure emotion, I can't do likewise! - But if I could Snape and Dumbledore would top my list.
Favourites: 1. Lupin - I just love him. Every time he turns up in the books I want to hug him! I really don't know quite why.. poor dear Lupin! 2. Sirius .. until he got all depressed and then died.. in my opinion he was everything a godfather should have been to Harry. 3. Fred and George and Dumbledore. I loved all Harry's long chats with Dumbledore and how he was so portrayed as so clever, kind and eccentric. I like him as much after the final book and admire him for realising the temptation of power and staying away from it by not taking a job with the ministry. Fred and George are just pure gold - I can't get enough of their humour! I think I preffered Fred to George though as Fred seemed to be quicker, have more ideas and be the leader. 4. Luna. Becuase she's just Luna. You've got to love someone who's totally not afraid to be themself. *sniff* - most of my favourites didn't make it to the end! Least Liked: 1. Umbridge - I hate hating her because the extent to which I hate her scares me! Let me say no more. 2. Fudge - man he just irritates me so much! How dare he render the world vunerable by covering up the truth just because he fears it! He is an absolute fool not to see what is happening so clearly. Please, please, oh please let me bash him over the head with a heavy cauldron and a few Blast-Ended Skrewts! 3. Petunia - I hate her cowardice. If only she would have told Lily or Harry that the reason she spurned them was because she was jealous.. then she could have redeemed herself - but to hate your nephew simply out of jealosy is apalling! 4. Macnair - I just hate him for wanting to kill Buckbeak so much - anyone who howls and swings an axe at the fence in anger at not being able to execute an innocent animal earns my utmost revulsion. It would be wrong of me to put Voldemort down here.. yes I dislike him and thoroughly agree with his death but I pity him more than hate him.. and I pity Bellatrix because anyone who could love Voldemort deserves my utmost pity! And what about Snape? I really, really dislike him but I can't completely hate him (although I want to) because he's fascinated me for so long and although he's a bully with glaring faults in the end he's a brave and honourable bully with glaring faults. |

Um...just to add one person that was not mentioned a lot.
I really loved Ginny. She was great because she always stood up for herself and others ( especially Luna). She had guts and gave people what they deserved. and she could hold her own against all her brothers. |

I've been sitting trying to figure out my favorite characters, and it's really hard to do. Always thought Lupin, and Sirius, yet Each and everyone has qualities that I love.
I will say a couple I definitely didn't like as far as them being Nasty Pieces of Work.... 1. Umbridge, I wanted to strangle that woman, I actually rank her worse then Voldemort. 2. Bellatrix, I think that speaks for itself. 3. Dudley, even though he did come around at the end. 4. Vernon and Petunia one in the same. 5. And of course Draco. He was nothing but a bully and a sissy at the same time. I'd love to say Snape, but I hated the character so much I loved him. Even the jerk that he was. Malfoy senior I despised until I saw who was playing the character..... {{{growl}}} |

LOL, it's sort of weird how I have very few characters that I hate. I mean, in real life I would completely loathe them, but I love them in the story!

Favorites: Severus Snape: I think Severus was absolutely the most human character I've seen in any of her books.
Dobby: Just a beautiful characterization of a totally selfless character. I think Dobby possessed all of the qualities I wished the humans in her books did. Hedwig: I think pets are often the most underestimated characters when they are the ones who give us the most comfort (as Hedwig did for Harry when he was alone at Privet Drive with the Dursleys [and I do mean alone]). Mad-Eye: He's just so colorful. Krum: I think because of the attractive actor playing him in the film (I have to be honest about that). Nagini: I absolutely adore Nagini. Again, it's the pet thing. But I also love the part where she slithers out of Batty's neck! I'm still in awe of that entire scene. I can't wait to see that in the film (I soooo hope they don't cut that). Least: Umbridge: I so don't think Staunton captured her at all because I had a teacher just like her - mean, vicious, nasty and she looked like a toad (and smelled a little funny) Ginny: Sorry, but she was just too...eh...for me. I just couldn't get into the character at all. Way too one-dimensional for me. Winky: Whereas Dobby had a heart of gold, I couldn't get past the drunkness of the character. Sirius: I'll admit that being locked in Azkaban for 13 years can do damage to the psyche, but boy, what a child. Tonks: I can't forgive her abandoning her child to help in the battle. I love seeing Umbridge on so many lists of least favorites, it just helps support my putting her in my top 5. She had no redeeming features about her at all. She delighted in the pain and misery of others.
Tonks was an auror, so I think she was pretty much commited to fight, I just thought she would survive. I agree with both Winky and Dobby 100% Moody was a great character, so forceful and fun to watch his antics, even when he was actually Barty Crouch Jr. Krum was kind of transparent in the book, not a whole lot of depth to him. |

Favourites:
Harry:Just because he is Harry I suppose...so brave, so funny. Dobby: Dobby has always been a favourite of mine. He's always punishing himself. Well know I suppose he's punishing himself in House Elf-Heaven-lol. Luna: Luna. There is just so much to love about Luna. She's outgoing (in her own way), doesn't really care what others think of her, and her room! The description in DH is just priceless! Hates: Umbridge:Man I could almost kill her if I saw her walking down the street. She's infuriating! I just can't stand her. Though I've got to admit Staunton did a great job on her in OOTP. Moody:Egh, Moddy was just too...eh. Ginny:Again, she seemed a bit out of character and a bit...eh. This post has been edited by crmhpfan: Aug 1 2007, 01:54 AM |
