There's going to be four books!!!

Christopher Paolini announced that the third book was just getting to be too large, so the Inheritance Trilogy is now becoming the Inheritance series!

He announced that since the 2nd book began with the death of a major character, that he felt the 3rd book should end with the death of another major character. Of course, he wouldn't say which character.

He didn't give us a name for the third book, but we have a release date! September 23, 2008!

You can see the video here.

Christopher Paolini has released the title name and cover today for the third book in the Inheritance Series!

BRISINGR

Paolini stated, "BRISINGR is one of the first words I thought of for this title, and it’s always felt right to me. As the first ancient-language word that Eragon learns, it has held particular significance for his legacy as a Dragon Rider. In this new book, it will be revealed to be even more meaningful than even Eragon could have known."

The release date has been changed to Saturday, September 20, 2008, so that release parties can be held!!!

Updated February 3rd:

Here are the international release dates:

Australia: September 21, 2008
Czech Republic: November 11, 2008
Denmark: November 15, 2008

The Synopsis has been revealed!!

QUOTE
Forces collide in Book III of the phenomenally successful Inheritance Cycle. Eragon represents the greatest hope for a better Alagaesia. Can this once simple farm boy rise to become a leader who can unite the rebel forces and defeat the King? Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep, including Eragon's oath to his cousin Roran to help rescue Roran's beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix's clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength, as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices - choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice. Conflict, action, adventure and one devastating death await readers as Eragon battles on behalf of the Varden while Galbatorix ruthlessly attempts to crush and twist him to his own purposes.

Rich with a thoughtful examination of Eragon's maturing psyche, "Brisinger" explores how Eragon must come to terms with his role as a leader and the moral obligations that weigh heavily upon his young shoulders as a Dragon Rider.

And a spoiler has been revealed... (highlight to see the spoiler)
Eragon will meet a god!
So - guess who finally got around to reading Eragon and Eldest??? Me!
I thought Eldest was better. I haven't pre-ordered Brsinger yet, but I need to. My son will read it first and I will have to wait. (or read when he goes to bed and spend a week being exhausted!)

I figured out that Murtagh and Eragon were brothers, but I didn't think he would be a rider.
Who do you think will be the rider for the dragon in the egg? I was thinking maybe Roran, Stronghammer. Another thought was that it could possibly be the first Dwarf rider as a way of bringing their race into the alliance of Dragon-Elf-Human. Possibly this was foreshadowed when Orik rode Saphira. I think he said he was the first Dwarf to ride a dragon!
Will that be Saphira's "one special mate"? What about Eragon? Will he finally win the aloof Arya or is there a better match for him?

Jeez, I haven't kept this up...

My 13 y/o has finished Brisingr and said it is one of the very best books he's ever read (and he's probably read more than I have!).

I've now started the CD set and am really liking the book so far....

Anyone else read it?

I totally loved the book! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I felt so sorry for Oromis and Glaedr (is that their names in English too?), when Oromis got killed first, and Glaedr got so sad that he had to kill himself... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
