Okay, well, I'm pretty sure she was lonely. I mean imagine studying and studying with no friends! It's almost like being homeschooled!

She was obviously lonely, but she worked very hard, since she was muggle born, everything was new to her. Even though she had read her textbooks, she was probably reading them again and practicing the lessons until she got them perfect. Because she was so smart, she intimidated many of the other students, especially the Gryffindor girls of her year. Also since she followed the rules so closely and probably gave the other girls in her dorm lectures about what is and is not allowed, it is likely they would want nothing to do with her.

Maybe it's about not wanting to get kicked out of Hogwarts... |

Hmmm...yeah, but she was a nerd before Hogwarts. Remember? It probably wasn't just about being scared of being kicked out! She was a perfectionist before she became their friend!

Hermione was a book worm, and therefore wanted to know all about it before going to school there. A bit obsessive compulsive behavior about it. Thank goodness she's lightened up a big. lol

LOL! Yeah, now that she's got Harry and Ron as friends:she's slapped Malfoy, lied to a teacher, persuaded Harry and Ron to break school rules, and more! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yeah, hmmm...now that my brain gears are starting to move more I've been thinking....what if Hermione had never become Harry and Ron's friend?

Yeah, it was basically because of Hermione that they're now friends. She was the one that chose to lie and now they're close friends!

Ah, but if Harry and Ron didn't lock her in with and then save her from the Troll she wouldn't have lied. Like Jo said, "There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yeah, it was sort of like that in the books, also. I think that she always wanted to be their friend in the first place, but Ron half didn't want to and Harry sort of had to agree.

I don't think that is was that Harry had to agree. I think it was more that Hermione didn't make a good first impression. I think she was very intimidating. But Ron and Harry weren't exactly friendly to her.

Hmmm...that makes sense. I still think that Harry sort of pretended to agree more with Ron on what he thought because he wanted to keep being friends with him.

Yeah,you-well, not hate her-but have a sort of dislike for her in the beginning and then you start to love her. She definitely made it hard to become friends with her!
