Who is going to make it to the end?, Who will survive? Options

I came up with this idea quite a while ago, but wanted to wait until HBP was released to see if it would still work. It appears that it could, so I thought I'd post it up. Now, I'm not saying that this is a good theory and everyone is more than free to bash it, but I was thinking that perhaps Jo is giving us clues as to who will make it through to the end through her website. I've noticed that she has given us the birthdates for many characters, but also hasn't given many others to us. Ones we know include:

Harry Potter
Hermione Granger
All the Weasley's
Remus Lupin
Neville Longbottom
Draco Malfoy
Dobby
Professor Sprout
Professor Flitwick
Professor McGonagall
Severus Snape
Gilderoy Lockhart
Rebeus Hagrid

But ones she has not given to us include:

Lucius Malfoy
Tom Riddle
Any of the Dursley's
James Potter
Lily Potter
Sirius Black
Peter Pettigrew
Albus Dumbledore
Nymphodora Tonks
Alastor Moody
Aberforth Dumbledore
Alice Longbottom
Frank Longbottom

Now, this could really mean very little. She could just be telling us the birthdates of the most popular characters. I mean, there are so many that we don't know the birthday's of and so few that we do. But I thought this might be an interesting thing to put out and get some thoughts on. Feel free to tear this to shreds or discuss. 02:D

That is interesting. I agree that it could be nothing, but it does seem significant. I mean, Dumbledore and Sirius were (are) both very popular characters, IMO. And I don't think Sprout and Flitwick are that popular.

Who knows, Jo is such a sneaky person. BTW, good pick up. 02:D

Well, not all of them. There are far too many characters for her to mention them all. But I think perhaps the significant ones like Lucius, PP and V. might be possible.

Wouldn't it be fitting though? At long last Remus can have something of a normal life. He has found someone who loves him regardless of what he is and he loses it. I'm getting depressed. I think I'll stop now. I don't want it to turn out like that. 22:cry:

Tonks isn't allowed to die. I don't care. Even if she does, its all a conspiracy, she isn't dead. Not really. JKR would be lying.

It would be a very good tragic twist, but I think it's a little too tragic. SOMEONE Lupin loves has to carry on living! He's too nice a bloke to keep having all these tradgedies.

as for not giving a birthdates for the list at top, i don't think there is any reason why jkr would not tell us except for the reasoning that there are too many characters to give them to. except if one is to reason that all the characters who were killed off, we really don't know there dates because she didn't tell us. ok i am getting a pain in my head from thinking too much 12:wacko: . i don't know, can't respond to this yet.

Didn't Jo say in an interview she didn't have room for birthdays, so maybe she just didn't mention them because there wsn't any room? Let me think...um um um...well, ya I think that she didn't include them because she didn't have any room. Does this post have any meaning because I don't think it does.

If that's true, then Lord Voldemort is going to die in book 7! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Wonder if she'll give out the dates on the new ones we "met" in book 6? I mean Professor Slughorn and the new minister? And what about Crabbe and Goyle, if they'll help Draco and their parents in the big war... There's so many questions that needs to be answered!

according to this, he is not going to die. In HBP we were told that merope appeared in the orphanage (sp?) in New year's eve, had the baby around midnight and was dead an hour later...
he was born on January, 1st.

Nina, I'm thinking more along the lines of the main characters we really care about. Cause she hasn't given us lots of other character birthdays, but the characters don't really seem to have many fans, besides Lucius Malfoy. Maybe he'll die? But like Crabbe, Goyle, Lavender, the Patil twins, Seamus, Dean, etc., they're all relatively minor characters and we have no word from her on her site about any of them. So I think her site is sticking more to the major characters rather than the minor ones as well.

I really hope it's true because that means that none of the Weasleys or the trio will die! That's truly a lot more than I've ever hoped for - I've always thought that there's no way all the Weasleys are going to survive the war - there's just too many of them!

But I really don't want Tonks to die!!!! She's one of my favourite characters - I just can't help liking her because she loves Lupin and she's just as clumsy as me! Killing Tonks now would be like killing Sirius as soon as he's had a chance at freedom.. oh wait, Rowling did that - dang!!!

Lets all request Tonk's birthday repeatedly so JK gives it to us and re-writes the book if necessary so she doesn't die! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Yeah! Go Tonks - we fans will save you!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif) I don't think we could persuade Jo that easily, but, anyway, I don't think that Tonks will die, anyway. What's the point? Everybody that's dying does seem to love Harry in a way, so I don't think that killing Tonks will make much of a change in the plot. Besides, the Order needs Tonks. Tonks might die as a loss for others, but isn't this story about Harry's life?

Sirius Black, James Potter, Lily Potter and Dumbledore are already dead so this thoery is very good.

Meaning that either: Frank Longbottom, Alice Longbottom, Aberforth, Nymphodora Tonks, Alastor Moody, Peter Pettigrew, Tom Riddle (Voldy) and any of the dursleys could die.

Since Frank and Alice are already in St. Mungo's they must be the most likely to die, besides V. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/crying.gif) I seriously hope that Moody and Aberforth won't die because they seem the most useful on your list, besides Wormtail.

Strangely enough, I really don't want any of the Dursley's to die. This is not their war!!! They don't have any protection against voldie's magic as yet (as far as we know) - attacking them would be like attacking a puppy!

And of course I don't want Tonks to die - or Moody (I don't think Cruticus would be very pleased with that either). I don't want Frank and Alice to die for Neville's sake - can you imagine how upset he'd be? We don't know Aberforth well but if he dies we won't get to know him better!

I don't really care about Peter or Voldie (aint that a surprise?).. but now I'm all worried about all the other characters on the list!
