Jeff kept his eyes carefully on her as she walked away. She was different. Incredibly daring. Most humans knew to keep their distance, though not consiously. But Sophie... she was in danger. If she was that brave - or stupid - to do something like kissing him... then her life was in peril. The things she could do to herself. He would have to make a point of avoiding her.

When Sophie walked into the bathroom she immediatly looked at her reflection in the mirror. What a sight! Her eyes were red and she had bright pink bloches on her face which was slightly puffy from cryings so hard. She spent the time, in getting her reflection back to normal, by pacing, and thinking hard...about Jeff...

Jeff tried to recall what had happened. He had simply stood beside her and turned to look at her. There had been something in her eyes. Something he hadn't expected. It shouldn't have been there. Jeff didn't go to the Great Hall. He was still in front of the entrance to the Ravenclaw common room. He knew that it would be pratically empty with all the students at dinner. He turned to it and and muttered the password he had heard spoken carelessly. He stepped inside the common room. Without hesitating, he turned to the stairs and nearly sprinted up. He knew exactly where to go to find Sophie's dormitory.

Sophie walked slowly up to her dormitory. She had been thinking about Jeff and nothing else. And when she finally reached her dormitory she paused outside it. She didn't feel like going to bed, but there wasn't anything else to do, so she stepped inside.
