I was looking through the topics for DH, and I noticed there weren't any poles. So I decided to do a poll. Probably the most boring poll imaginable: a rating poll. Anyway, back to the subject: Rate Deathly Hallows out of 10; I suppose around 1 is pretty crappy and 10 amazingly brilliant, so yeah, your choice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) .

Had to give it a 7. It's a good book, but not the best. I think there is a bit of rambling here and there and that there were things that could have been better explained throughout the book to tie up more loose endings. I feel like, as JK said on her website once, that there was a push (from herself) to avoid making this the longest book and I think some things might've suffered as a result.

Its a great book, but it could've been better.
About 8 out of 10.

I gave it a 7 too. It's not one of my favourite HP books. I dunno there was just something missing from it.

I think it's a really exciting book and the storytelling is great, but it seems to be missing what alot of people fell in love with, which is hogwarts and Harry's life in Hogwarts, although we do revisit it in the end eventually.
The beginning couldnt have been more exciting especially with "the seven Potters" and the book just sky-rockets everyone into excitement, this gradually dies down after Harry reaches the burrow, and it starts to get interesting when Kingsley sends the patronus saying how the ministry fell, that was one of my favourite lines of the book (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .
I think there are alot of questions answered in this book, but a fair few are left out, which makes me wonder why pose a question if it isn't going to be answered, but I had no objections to this.
Alot of action DOES take place in this book but a fair amount of non-action and slow paced events happen, although if the book were action packed from beginning to end it wouldnt be as special when something exciting happens.
DH's always keeps you on the edge of your seat and you cant put it down once you've picked it up.
I think one thing that is a let down is the climax, in my opinion the climax defines a book, it was like the story was building up to a giant climax and it is a let-down to see Harry and V both fire a curse the curse rebounds and V is dead, although the chapters that take place previously to this overshadow the climax and makes you forget about it.

Overall its a great book, could've been better, but great nonetheless.
Note I havent compared it to the other HP books because I havent read them in a while and it wouldnt be fair comparing.
I think it would be an 7 or 8 out of 10. As posted previously.

I gave it a 9 out of 10. I'm a very nice judge most of the time. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) It was very hard to pick a number for it, though. I have to mention the beginning when the trio is learning more about Horcruxes. I forgot the exact question, but Ron asks a question to Hermione that sounds too much like a question and answer interview! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I don't know! It just didn't have that conversation element in it.

Yeah I remember that, and I was just thinking to myself, well Hermione spent most of the summer with Ron would she have told him earlier? But there were a few instances when that happened but that doesnt really bring the book down in anyway.

Yeah, that's true. Hmmm...I never thought of that. Still, though, if you look back on the size of the books it's a wonder to think that Jo could fit that whole load of information in only those few pages.

I rated it a 10. I couldnt put the book down (other than the instance that after having it for 3 hours I had to go to work for 7 hours, my dad almost had to prise it from my hands I was that into it) and was pleading with the world all day not to scan a newspaper with a spoiler on, or have someone at my checkout who had finished it and was talking about it. Luckily, I didnt. I came home, read it until the end - until 3 in the morning at which point it was dark, I only had a small light on, I was shaking towards the end I was so scared and so into it and I felt as though as I was there, with the characters until the very end. It takes an amazing writer for a book to do that to you - to make you feel part of the characters lives, to feel as though you are living their lives with them while youre reading.

It's been hard for me to even talk about the book DH let alone rate it. I have always felt PoA to be my favorite. Not a large book, and it introduced my favorite characters. But....

Deathly Hallows I have to say rates a 10 with me. Why? It did have its slow parts, but I felt it was necessary, the rest put me on the edge of my seat, drew me in, played with my emotions, and left me speechless, and you all know that is hard to do. ;~)

I still cannot talk about it on the boards, and probably never will. I watch all analyze it, and everyone has a right to their opinions, and I truly appreciate them. I myself cannot seem to respond to peoples posts.

So because it has affected me so much I have to give it a 10. My favorite? If not it is darn close. I regret that it is all over. Oh, and it does help that my kids did live. lol

I totally agree with RWR, you are living their lives as you are reading!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) The weirdest thing about this is that I was in the middle of PS/SS the other day and I looked back and noticed that there were lots of pages that I had read and looked at what was left and was so suprised to see that it was so short!

I definitely say that I must rate it a 10/10. If I could, I would give it higher. It was my favorite book!!!! So many things left me speechless (like baty said) and I love that about a book!

Mmm... I give it a 9, because it was a very very good book but they trailed off a bit along the way.

I'll say! I'm re-reading it at the moment and I'm kind of skipping the boring stuff (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) .

I definetly liked it. I woukld have to give it probably a 9. There were a couple boring parts, but other than that, I really enjoyed it.

My favorite though would definetly be one of the three before DH.

Well, there's only one possible answer for this - 10, of course. It was pretty much PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. I finished it in 4 DAYS, I was so engulfed. I had to sit through a 6 hour flight with the book and there wasn't a dull moment.
BEST OF THEM ALL, TOTALLY ADORED IT.

Okay, I might have gone a little too far...
Thanks for creating this thread and allowing me to discharge some of my adoration for the book - MY BROTHER DIDN'T FINISH IT YET.
