QUOTE(Tabbilina Trufflepuck @ Jul 21 2005, 06:23 PM) Amelia Bones is discussed on page 123 of OoTP. She was Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and is also the one who was incharge of quesitoning Harry at the time. Her full name is Amelia Susan Bones according to page 138. She is very impressed by Harry's ability to produce a fully-formed Patronus at the age of 15. And she was the only member of the Wizengamot that spoke to Mr. Weasley as they left the hall. Chapter Seven into Eight into Nine. a little digging shows that its likely not amilia bones. Nice find. |

QUOTE(GinnyPotter @ Jul 21 2005, 09:35 AM) Speaking of which, how does JKR expect Harry to find 5(?) horcruxes in one book? That is, if he finds all of them. And some may already have been found, like the whole RAB issue thing? Not only that, but what's with this mentality that Harry is doing everything by himslef? Like he alone is trying to find the Horcruxes? (We already know another know of them) And he alone is going to defeat all the Death Eaters AND Voldemort? Look out! It's SUPER HARRY! If Dumbledore couldn't do it, you can bet your sweet life Harry can't. |

It is an interesting theory. This may have already been brought up, but the note was adresses to the Dark Lord. From our knowledge, only death eater's call him that, so it would make more sense for R.A.B to be a death eater. But with Jo we never know.

We forget that Harry is nearly 17 and has been learning alot of new things in his last year at Hogwarts. DD also saw a lot of potential in Harry and it's possible he will be all the more powerful than DD ever was as he grows older. The next book may even be spread over more than one year but seeing as Harry says he will not return to Hogwarts, he will have much more time to dedicate himself to finding the remaining Horcrux's than if he was still studying every day.
I think Ron and Hermoine will be there to help too and we know Hermoine is the most gifted witch at the school. I also think something will be made of Neville in the next book and he could surprise everybody with his powers and as soon as Harry learns to calm his temper and channel it into his magic he will be more of a match for LV. I There is more to the Snape story and I believe it will trun out that he is there to help Harry after all and between all of these people they will unite to bring LV down. If DD really is dead, he efectively gave his life to save Harry so Harry has another strong weapon against LV when it comes to people who have sacrificed themselves for him which makes him stronger than LV in many ways. Whatever it is that defeats LV, the love Harry has from the poeple around him, will feature heavily. |

hold on a sec who said LV was defeated? and another thing, Harry is just 17with six years of teaching. Voldemort is the most feared wizard among people. I don't care how many times Harry has escaped, he has been getting closer and closer to death. in the second he nearly did die if it wasn't for Fawkes, the third he amost lost his soul which is worse than death. The fourth he came face to face with Voldemort and it took others to save him from the hands of death. in the fifth he only escaped because Voldemort told the death eaters that only he would kill Harry same reason for the sixth, but notice in the sixth Harry's spells couldn't touch Snape, if Harry can't fend off Snape what chance does he have against Voldemort. I'm sorry but I just can't see Harry winning. |

I guess I am a true Harry fan and believe that good always triumphs over evil. DD has always said that Harry's greatest strength is the love he feels for others and the love they feel for him. I believe DD was the greatest wizard of all time and he would not have invested what he did in Harry if he felt he didn't have a chance of defeating LV
LV has his death eaters to assist him and Harry has people he loves and who love him, so I still believe that Harry can beat LV and will continue to hope that he does so. I do hear what you're saying but Harry couldn't have defeated LV in the last books or there wouldn't have been any reason for anymore books. Also, Snape kept saying to Harry when he was trying to attack him, that he had to learn to close his mind and I believe he will hone this skill in the next book before he faces LV again and he will be a lot stronger than he has been previously. Forever flying the flag for Harry to win!!!!!!! |

please don't get me wrong, I'm hopeful that Harry will win too but I just don't see how. You can't seriosly expect him to find all the artifacts that need to be destoryed and not come across any death eaters, or in fact LV ? Even if Harry has a chance against LV, neither Hermoine or Ron do. (I should make it clear at this point i hope they survive). Remember what Harry said, if LV wants you dead you'll be dead. Hermoine might have a chance what with her exceptional ability to remember almost every spell. Ron on the other hand has never show any exceptional ability at anything more than using a niffler. Harry is great at defence against dark arts and Hermonie is good at charms and Tranfigurstion but when it comes to Ron he seems to well........suck....The death eaters will surely kill him. I don't see why any of the others will be there. Also I'm not saying that Harry should have defeated LV before but he hasn't shown any kind of special ability to defeat LV yet. If he is going to do so he is going to need to do it soon. I can hope but I'm still doubt ful Harry will win, J.K. has been getting increasingly bored with Harry lately.....so bored she might just send him packing. I have come across one ray of hope tho.
Pettigrew still hasn't repaid his debt to Harry(not that I've noticced anyway). |

QUOTE Pettigrew still hasn't repaid his debt to Harry(not that I've noticced anyway). Ooh good catch Blood Titan! You raised my spirits a little. I just finished the book today and so I still have that dread feeling in my chest. I too think Harry will triumph, and not because I imagine him to be some fantabulous wizard but because good will triumph over evil. It has been too much of a theme throughout the series. Harry's friends and his heart will be the match for Tom's skills. You see Tom has neither. (in DD's memory, I will now refer to him as Tom) |

I like that. Tom. Thank you. Oh, I like your word, fantabuluos, as well.
Everyone has gottent his idea that Harry is sooo great, and how he's going to do everything by himself because he's the "Chosen One". But even Harry admitted it. He's had help all along. True, he has done more. But he would have accomplished nothing without the aid of his friends and teachers. |

I'm going to merge all R.A.B. theories into one thread, as we have a lot of theories, and they're all over the place. Makes it easier to have them in one thread.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure LV will die in the end. However, harry might die as well. I dont think JK could just leave it with LV still alive like then it would just be so open ended.

I wonder if we are all being a little too literal in thinking that R.A.B. represents the initials of a persons's actual name. It could stand for something else.
Amelia Bones and Regulus Black are both dead and I really can't see a reason for them to have taken the Horcrux. My guess is the message may have been left my Dumbledore when he drank the water which I believe contained the real Horcrux. I'm well aware that R.A.B. doesn't represent the Name Albus Dumbledore but maybe DD was known as something else. Or maybe DD left the note which represented another person. |

ppl need to calm and just think. I am not sure whether R.A.B will be a person we know yet, but i think the sirus's brother theory seems to be most likely so far. I jus wanna go over one thing though, nagini must be a horcrux as how did harry make a connection with her in book 5 when she bit MR weasly? i dont think voldemort possesed her i think he is a prt of her that harry could acsess. oh and i also think that whoever R.A.B is will help harry to destroy the remaining horcrux's dead or alive J.K.R wouldn't have told us about the note in the locket if it didn't mean something deeper to be continued in her final book

Any Theory's as to who this might be? I've come up with several conclusions, each of which kind of make sense to me... but i'd better gather some data from the rest of you. From what it sounds like there must have been 2 people in order to drink the liquid... However, another theory I have is that the first person there left the liquid for the next person, in hopes they would turn back and not waste there time. Than again, maybe it was left there on purpose by Voldemort who had already discovered that his Horcrux was missing, and planted it there in hopes that Dumbledore would be the next to come, and he would than weaken himself. Now with the first Part, There would have been 2 names combined to make R.A.B... maybe it could stand for Remus and Black? Or possibly *something* *something* Black. I'm not really sure of Sirius's fathers first name... so I'm going to be re-reading the 5th book to the part where Harry discovers the Black Family tree, to see if anyone has the initials R.A.B. Well as you can see I've been going around in circles here... anyone else have a bit of data which could slow my head from spinning?

I'm sticking to my opinion that it's Regulus. His name is mentioned way to many times in this book to not have been important, and the lockeet (we believe) was seen on OOTP at 12 Grimauld Pl. It's plausable that Regulus wanted a foot up on V. he knew he was a gonner anyway, right. And, as he was a deatheater, it would make sense that he called him the Dark Lord.

In light of evidence provided, that Amelia Bones' full name is Amelia Susan Bones, I think we can close that particular line of theory. Although, for a time it has been fun speculating about her and Amy Benson.
Although... it still could be Amy Benson. Though that is highly unlikely. I'm confirming my support for my first idea, the same one that most people had, that it is Regalus. It does make a lot more sense after all. |

Whoever said (in the first posts) that what is important in RAB are R and B (if it's really the name of a person) is certainly right, because APWBD, that is to say Albus Percival Wilfric Brian Dumbledore, is commonly named Albus Dumbledore.
Book 7 may actually stretch upon more than a year, overall if Harry does not go back to school. But I believe that JKR presented the series like being compound with 7 books narrating each a year of Harry's schooling at Hogwarts. However, she said before book 6 that she might end the Voldemort's stuff in book 6 and start a new story in book 7. Then, the HP books are not exactly children's books. I remember of an American mother who told JKR that she wanted no love story in the series, because it would go out the field of children's books stricto sensu. It would be possible to make a whole topic (which may already exist) about the ways in which the HP series is not a series of children's books. As for destroying 5 Horcruxes in a single book, that would not appear so difficult if Harry came across Voldemort and kill the seventh of him which is allowed to walk. Then Voldemort would have to move to another existing part of his soul, wouldn't he. |
