There has been talk of Harry's parents coming back from the dead. Many are skeptical, including myself. However, after reading the 1st book recently, I discovered that everything in Ron's mirror is starting to come through.
Ron saw:
- He was the Quidditch captain. (this is a high possibility)
- He had won the Quidditch cup. (already happened)
- He was Head Boy. (also very possible seeing that he is a prefect)

Also, when Harry saw the Philosopher Stone in his pocket in the mirror. It came into his pocket. (Did the mirror make a prediction?)

So we have to ask ourselves, does the Mirror of Erised hold some type of fortune telling power. And, if so, will Harry have some future encounters with his parents since that is what he saw in the mirror.

I know this theory is completely out there and J.K. Rowling has already said that Harry's parents will not come back from the dead. However, there may be other ways for Harry to meet his parents.

Anyways, just thought I would share this with everybody and get some feedback. I may have missed or forgotten something. I am opened to input.

The mirror shows DEEPEST DESIRES. Ron wants those things, but they are easily acheived. Harry's parents coming back alive isnt possible

Dumbledore said he changed the mirror to make sure that someone who wanted to find the stone and not use it, could get the stone from the mirror.

I agree with sweet16. Harry's parents are dead. They will never come back. Also, if I remember right, Dumbledore told us that the mirror doesn't show the future. It just shows us what we want the most. What Ron wants is perfectly possible. What Harry wants is impossible. I believe that no one can really come back from the dead.

All Ron wanted to do was stand out from his brothers, better than the rest. The Mirror of Erised showed him that. People keep saying Ron will be the head boy because the mirror showed it happening, but the mirror is not a divination item. If Ron looked at the Mirror of Erised today, it would probably show him flying with the Chuddly Cannons.

I think I am being misunderstood. I know it is impossible for Harry's parents to come back from the dead. I am thinking of a different situation, almost similar Priori Incantatem.
Also, I know what DD said about the mirror. However, it may have a hidden power that DD doesn't know about.

You all may be right though. It was just a theory.

well it is possible for Harry to meet his parents, that is of course if he dies. Along with the quidditch cup, and prefectship, Ron's desires are slowly coming true, why not Harry's?

But the mirror didn't even necessarilly say that Harry's parents would come back from the dead, it just showed him standing next to them. And you can't forget that there were other people in the mirror, besides his parents. There were other members of Harry's family there, too. Maybe the mirror does tell the future, though.

Now, this might seem a little bit far fetched, but this is just a theory:

When Harry heard the voices behind the veil, maybe they were his parents. Maybe the veil is somewhat like the thestrals: if a loved one dies, you can hear them talking to you. I mean, since Luna's mother died, and she could hear the voices. But the others couldn't hear the voices, since no one they loved had died. There was Neville, who's parents had been tortured, but they weren't dead. Maybe in the next books, Harry will see the veil again or something.

Harry saw himself with his parents when he was only 11 years old, he looked in the mirror and saw himself exactly as he was, but with his parents behind him.

Ron saw himself older....

Dumbledore said there is no magic that can restore the dead to life, so Harry cannot be reunited with his parents as the mirror showed.

"I show not your face, but what your heart's desire."

"Esired stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi"

"Esired -straeh-ruoy-tub-ecaf-ruoy-ton -wohs-i"

There is nothing in the books at all to show that the mirror can tell the future.

I've said this in other postings so I won't try to go into great detail but I think that Harry will be given useful information from his parents, Sirius, and possibly other main character who may die in the next two books. I believe he will be able to communicate with them through the vehicle of the veil not the mirror. I believe the mirror reflects desire and not necessarily reality. I think in regard to Ron though some of these desires may become reality. It is highly likely that Ron will be head boy and Quidditch captain. My fear for Ron though is that he may not live to enjoy these achievements for very long. But that's been said on another posting as well.

Hmmm...I know Dumbledore wouldn't lie, but maybe...
I'm going to stick with my gut and say that that part - the Mirror of Erised - will be very important in the next two books. You make a good point, Arsi, but I don't know. I always thought, since I found out that Sirius died, that he and Harry's parents would play somewhat of an important role in the next two books.

(Off subject):

In the end of the 1st book, Voldemort said that he could bring Harry's parents back. He might have been using this as a trap to kill Harry. I don't know.

There is no spell that can bring back the dead, Dumbledore said that in OOTP. Voldemort will say ANYTHING, and promise ANYTHING, to get what he wants. He is a liar.

I don't think that Harry can bring his parents back, but there sure is something we don't know about that mirror. It's a bit mysterious, is it?

Harry never saw himself dead with his parents, just with his parents. Neither did he see his parents return from the dead, he was just himself with his parents. This "desire" *could* be possible in a number of ways in "magical" terms.

I doubt he'd have chosen to be dead, but i'm sure he won't have the choice, just a reminder of where he can expect to go.

nice theory, he sees himself with his parents, the mirror doesn't show if they're dead or alive.
now, harry knows that he must kill or being killed. remember when (Ootp) he was fussionated with voldie, he wished DD to kill them both, so he could see sirius again... maybe the desire to see his parents includes death.

possibly the way they died. Sirius went through the veil, and there were voices that could be heard whispering outside the veil. Sirius died, but it is unsure how he actually died.
