Here you can discuss the characters of the Inheritance trilogy.

Who is your favorite character, and why?

Eragon is mine, of course. Though I could see why Murtagh would be the favorite for many. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Murtaugh from the beginning when he showed up in the story was my personel favorite, after he went bad, I kkind of drifted twards Rohran, in the Eldest book, and I think I spelt Rorhan wrong, o well, but, I honestly think Murtaugh is still good, and will help Ergaon, defeat Galbatorix, or that Murtaugh will take over Galbatorix's throne, and Eragon would have to fight him or something, If Murtaugh is still good though, I'll trade back favorites... yeah, part of me still thinks he's soooo tight, but, the other part of me says, Mathias, you've done quite a few bad things in your short lifetime, so stay on the straight and narrow, and don't fratrenize, or believe in anything, that might seem bad, or immoral, haha (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dragon.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gandalf.gif)

So, who do you think will be the next rider? I think it's going to be Roran. For some reason I keep thinking about what Ormis (sp?) said about the former kings of Planacar and how they went into hiding, and he specifically said Carvahall (where they hid). Do you think it's possible that part of that noble blood belongs to Garrow, and therefore to Roran and Eragon? Other than being the son of Morzan, Eragon could also be of royalty, but it would be Roran who would be the rightful king.

What do you think?

For one: Murtagh is my favorite character. He's so dynamic and all his crazy internal conflicts make him so believable (loosely speaking of course). I personally LOVED it when he turned bad! Following in the footsteps of his father, eh? But besides that, he's so deep and he's got it all figured out. Look at my siggy... the bottom quote is from him and I really think that describes him well.

Second: the next rider... KATRINA! Think about it... she was taken by the Ra'zac and will probably at some point come in contact with the egg. It's deffinatly not a cliche and people won't be expecting it. I mean, with Roran it would be pretty cool and he'd make an awesome rider, but I think it's too expected. But Katrina would be, as far as we know, the first female rider.

Oh, and I just have to say that I completly agree with murtagh_sbk! Evil people (in literature and movies... of course not real life) always look cooler! I don't think Murtagh really is good or evil though. I think he's just lost in a mixed up crazy world which is another reason why he's so awesome. None of the best characters are all good or all bad... they have a mix! I believe that Murtagh just wants a bit of power. He deserves it, too. He's amazing. Right now he's pretty much at the mercy and in the control of Galbatorix, but he did take Zar'roc on his own free will... so I"m thinking he's a streak of evil in him. Eragon has yet to show his... but he has one. He has to, not only because all dynamic characters have good and evil in them... but because he's a son of Morzan. He has to.

I think that Murtagh has been totally blinded by Galbarotix (Evil incarnate). Gallbatorix is using Murtagh as his puppet. I hope that Gallbatorix wasn't smart enough to make Murtagh oath that he won't hurt the evil fake-king in any manner whatsoever. Or, if he did, perhaps his dragon (Thorn) hadn't made the oath.

Speaking of which I wonder what Eragon and Saphira's real names are??? hmmmm (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dragon.gif)

Hmm, Katrina, is a very good idea, hmm, I did think about this , when I first read the book, but now, it hadn't crossed my mind, that she might be, and after all, she has some of Saphira's magic in her? so I def. think it's a possibility? Do I support it entirely? No I can safely say, I do not, but, I do believe there is some truth to your thought riddlemethis. Sadly, Dij, I do think he is smart enough. They're probably absolutly under his control... and that's sad, because than Murtagh could destroy Galbatorix and rule the land on his own! Wahahaha! Just kidding... Eragon's probably going to somehow and that will break the spell on Murtagh and he'll be all good and stuff...

I suck at piking favourit characters but probably go in order as followes (these opinons are based on the books):

FAVE CHARACTER #1: Arya i love this girls fighter spirit and how she is torn between her mind and her heart i kind of see some of myself in her

FAVE CHARACTER #2: Saphira now i bet that surprised you i love the dragon she is smart but still young GO SAPHIRA

FAVE CHARACTER #3: Eragon his courage his heart you all know he is amazing

FAVE CHARACTER #4: Murtagh i feel sorry for him (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) swearing an oath to Galbaorix i pity him. But hopefully they will break the oath

But one thing i think is that galbatorix didnt think of makeing them sware not to hurt galbatorixs army and he still knows theyre true names so if Galbatorix dies before Murtagh then they are free. And you know that dream eragon had 2 people a girl and a boy (Arya and Eragon most likely) and there is someone behind them(Roran or Murtagh)then 2 dragons rise in the air (most likely green and blue) and since the green dragon has to be Saphiras mate then it would make sence that Arya is the next rider right.

That's actually a really good theory, I never really thoguht of it....then again, I never really think of things of that complexity, until someone else mentions them, I'm more of a movie, thinker, more then a book one, I'm always like, " What do they mean when they say this, in this way, in that scene?" usually, I pick up what the whole plots about before the movie is over, but yeah, good thought SBK....
