A friend came with me to see the film and she hadn't read the book. She was completely lost. The background for the new characters - Kingsley, Tonks, Emmelyn Vance, and Miss Figg - were completely lost on her. Until the prison break, she didn't understand that Sirius and Bellatrix were related. And she was lost on what Kreacher's role was supposed to be.

My boyfriend went with me to see it and he hasn't read any of the books. The only thing that he didn't get was about Kreacher. We were discussing the movie on the way home and I said that I wished Kreacher would have had a bit bigger role and he goes "Who?" And I said "The house elf." He was like "Well, what kind of role would they have given him?" So I had to explain about him. But, even tho he hasn't read any of the books, that topic brought us to Dobby. He asked why he has been cut from the movies. I told him that I didn't know... that maybe he doesn't have any importance to the end of the books and he said that it was stupid of them to put Dobby into the beginning and not have him in there anymore. I agree. But anyway, other than Kreacher, Eric understood the rest of the movie. I don't think he understood the background of the new characters, but he got why they were in the movie, so that is something. I dunno, but I know he said he thought it was "OK". I, personally, really loved it. Maybe you do need to have read the books in order to really get the whole movie. Who knows!

Yeah, I really liked it. Liked it, not loved it! My friend, who hasn't read the book, also thought it was just okay. I thought that he did a really good job of cutting it short and sticking with the main points in the story. Of course, I am disappointed. I wonder if this really shows us what'll be important. As usual, he made up scenes to smooth things over and connect scenes. It was still well done at the end where Sirius calls Harry, "James" because they didn't include where Molly tells him that Harry isn't James or something of the sort. I was a bit disappointed in the family tree. I mean, it really was a tree! They did a really good job with Ginny, though and showing that she really liked Harry still! I felt really sorry for her! I don't know, you can't help but get frustrated at them. I mean, Harry and Cho?! LOL, overall 'it was great'! Evanna did do a great job and I was expecting her to as Jo said she was 'perfect'! Imelda suprised me and, actually, did a better job than I thought she would. They didn't show that she got rescued, though. I loved the part where Ron gets jealous even though that wasn't in the books! Fantastic! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It's sort of weird, though, because where would Grawp have gotten all that stuff?
