I know, i felt like any second now, Ron was going to flip and be so jealous of Harry, he was going to 'hit him with the chair'.

Boy, the relations just kind of popped in all of a sudden. But other than that, I am personally glad that Harry broke up with Ginny. 15^_^ Some of you might be bummed but that was the only thing that cheered up a little in the end...

"You are protected, in short, by your ability to love"

DD says this to Harry when discussing the prophecy and what Harry must do... so I think Harry has to still love Ginny... if he tries to not love her to protect her, then he is not strengthtening his most powerful weapon - love. In fact, Harry's hatred of Snape and Bellatrix, while understandable, does not strengthen his best asset - his ability to love. It is that which sets him apart from Voldemort - when will he remember it?

Firstly, to all the 'it's just catering for shippers' people. Shippness comes from something in the book. They (normally) don't just pick two random characters and say 'they will get together and I'll kill anyone who says otherwise'. They pick up on subtle hints and such from the book, and this is where shippy feelings come from.

And it was really really sweet. I didn't think they would split up and didn't believe it at first when I read it. They will get back together I reacon at the end, unless one of them dies that is. But once (sorry, if) they get rid of Voldermort, they'll get together. THEY WILL! THEY HAVE TO! ::decends into shipper mode, glaring at those who disagree with her::

Yes, the shippers do pick up hints.. .but I guess I am just dissapointed that JK has led us up to these relationships forming for so long and nothing seems to be changing from that. Or maybe it was that we are all so smart and picked up on it? I know I shouldn't expect her to throw us off, but given how she has with other parts of the story, you'd expect to be thrown for a loop or two somewhere in there. But the relationship aspect was quite expected (except for Ron snogging with someone else for awhile - but not surprising given he wanted to make Hermione jealous and make up for being teased... and alsos the Harry saying he and Ginny couldn't date anymore. But even that wasn't so surprising after Dumbledore died.... Harry sure has had to deal with a lot, just like Spiderman... and he probably thinks he can't bear to have her involved and another person he cares for so deeply die...)

I have never been a shipper for anyone before, but, sorry, I love Harry and Ginny as a couple. If they all make it through, I think they will be together again.

Yes, it was slightly like Spider-man... and to some extent I disagree with it since DD says Harry needs his friends (note: in contrast to Voldemort - Harry needs to rely on his friends and trust/love them... not like Voldemort where they are merely doing his bidding). So I want Harry to stay with Ginny.

I disagree with this. Harry's ability to love will ultimately be the thing that helps him to defeat Voldemort, but I don't think this means romantic love at this point. If I could give Ginny relationship advice (lol) I would tell her to just be there for Harry in the way he needs her to be, as a loyal friend and companion and member of the DA (all of which she can do really well), because to pursue more *does* make her a weak spot of Harry's for Voldemort to exploit. She is a very smart girl, I think she will see this. I hope she will at least. Then, once Voldemort is defeated, they will get married and live happily ever after lol - this I am sure of, if they both survive the battle. They are meant for each other, but right now a romantic relationship will just distract Harry, especially since he will be only 17 and keeping up a romantic relationship at that age takes a lot of excess energy, energy Harry needs to fight Voldemort.

I dont believe Harry and Ginny will hook up again, at least until the end of Book 7 (when I hope they will reunite), but it seems to me that JKR was just trying to let Harry have a little romance without getting him too romantically involved. Harry has better things to do, and I doubt we will see more romancing for him until Voldemort is gone.

I don't think it was just to have a little romance for Harry. I think it was also to show he'd matured and how serious he was about getting rid of Voldermort. He knew what he had to do and made the hard decision to leave Ginny, and it shows he knows he must act for the greater good.

QUOTE(baty4potter @ Jul 18 2005, 12:35 PM)
I'm really surprised you think this way.  Ron and Hermione have been quite obvious, I think, from the beginning.  Especially when Molly got mad at Hermione thinking she was liking Harry as a boyfriend.  To me *that* in itself was a huge clue.

Agreed. No offense Jaxter, but Baty is right... there have been tons of clues. Nothing outwardly by either saying they want to date one another, but actions sometimes speak louder than words...

In this book alone, Hermione being angry at Ron for so long is one example... if she really didn't like him, why would she act like Harry did when he saw Dean with Ginny? Or Ron getting upset at Hermione for the Krum incident... all in all, JK is trying to tell us they like one another without outright saying it. The typical romance hints whereas they argue and are jealous but because they care for one another... I think it's mainly that Ron just doesn't know how to express it to Hermione. She wants him to figure out that she likes him and take the lead... but Ron is too clueless about women to really think like that yet. Which is why it's taken so long.

And she's one of the biggest Harry/Ginny shippers here, well...her and Flame.

Who me? 02:D lol...but I will admitt that I used to support Hermione/Harry and anyone who has only watched the films would easily be able to make a case for it. That then left Ron with no one, but at the time, I didn't care! lol

I was 'converted' to Harry/Ginny through FanFiction, believe it or not, although I was rather unsure about it until I started really reading the books and seeing how it was really leaning towards Ron/Hermione...so who else did that leave Harry with? I mean, he is practically related to the Weasleys already...and he did save her life and she has always had at least a little something for him...so yeah, it just seemed logical in the end.

Oh, and I agree with crut, as much as it pains me to say it, I don't think they're going to get back together until Voldemort has died.

Something else though - we all say that Harry's strength is love - well, isn't he protecting Ginny (and hence loving her) by staying away? I mean, it is kinda cliche, but it is self-sacrificial love (like his mother's for him). Loving someone so much you can let them go. *sniff* I'm going to start crying now....

Yeah, I can see her saying she has to go and she will make them take her...thats what she did in book five (made harry take her luna and neville to the MOM), and I can see her doing it again. Although I also think she will be like Harry I dont care if it means I'm in danger I'm already in danger because my parents are in the order, and just stuff like that. I dont think harry would say no especially if there is snogging involved. but you never know.
