Behind the veil, Dead people... Options

My little theory:

When Harry heard the whispers behind the veil, so did Luna Lovegood. Do you think that you can only hear or maybe look behind the veil if you have seen death. Do you think that Harry and Luna could talk to death. On the day of the leaving feast Luna had mentioned that she could be able to talk to her mother. Maybe they could bring back the dead if they sacrifice themselves or someone...

Hmmmm...that is very interesting. For some reason I don't think that you die when you fall into the veil. Maybe it has the "Dementors Kiss Effect" where you just lose your soul?

Or maybe the opposite of the Dementor's Kiss... you lose your body and keep your soul.

Yah, I like that idea! Mybe it's imprisonment in the sense that body and soul cannot be together and are cut off from contact between either some sort of after life and the presant. Hey, maybe it's like a point in between life and death!

I've never thought of it that way, but you've stretched my brain! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif) It could be, but I thought of it as not life or death or in between, but sort of like a dead life in being alive. Does that make sense? It's like you're living, but your life is dead.

Or maybe your in life but you're dead... just kidding. Yah, I think I get it, but I don't know if my brain likes that very much. It's already a little crazy about the veil. It's never been one of the topics I have many theories about, but I'm beginning to think more about it.

I actually don't think you die when you go behind the veil. Your soul kind of stays alive, but your body isnt? Because if Sirius's soul is still alive he might come back in the 7th book? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Well, once Jo kills someone off I don't think there's really a chance that they'll come back. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/crying.gif) I got that feeling after DD died and she said he wouldn't come back, so I don't think Sirius is coming back and he is probably suffering back there.

So if your body and soul are seperated than could you die? I mean I think without your soul your body would die right? And your sould can't die if it is sepirated from your body so than it would be like the dementors kiss. Unless your soul never dies even even you die normaly. Maybe that is what they mean when they say someone will live forever in your heart.

What if everyone goes to the veil when they die? I mean their soul does and its all a collection of souls of people who died. Or the veil is a way of communication. But you could always communicate to the dead, as long as you have a picture of them. Maybe their souls go in to their pictures.

No that wouldn't work because that would mean spliting your soul, which only happens when you kill someone. Maby the split part of the soul when you die goes behind the veil.

ANYWAY back to the subject: it is possible that the only reason the others didn't hear the whisper is because they just wernt listning. I mean think about it, Ron was like crazy and the others were busy dueling wizards that knew more than them, so they were probobly consumed in their own problems. Plus it must have been noisy, so maybe Luna was just close enough to the veil to hear it.

Neville has seen death so he would have been able to hear it weather or not it be true about the hearing it only if you have seen someone die. Also aiding to my story of it being noisy.

Well, the dementor's kiss is worse than death, so it's not neccesarily actual death if you're saying that the veil has a similiar effect, so Sirius isn't dead, but he's definitely gone. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/weeping.gif)
You don't die if you don't have your soul. If you still have your heart and brain(which I think Sirius still has) then you're still alive.

Just a note: just because JKR says she's not bringing Sirius BACK, doesn't mean he won't appear to Harry in some form. Just means she won't bring him back to life.

Since everyone seems to be mentioning Dementors, and that the veil possibly splits you soul from your body, is it possible that this is how Dementors are created. Its a bit of a strech but I mean you possibly could say that to create a Dementor you push someone through the veil their soul and body are torn apart. The body is mutilated and spit back out and the soul is kept. This would fill the Dementors motive to suck souls.

oh, well essentually that might be what it is, but I think that the veil would be somewhat, nicer, maybe you go to a sanctuary type thing. I don't know, its just I don't think that the Ministry of Magic would create something so...dark.

Or maybe that was their purpous. Maybe they were trying to create what the effect of the dementors kiss is.
