Ah thank god, no acne ridden Harry! I found this quote funny!

QUOTE
It was on the Rosie show that JK had told one of the kids that none of the trio would die.

yes but baty was that just for ootp or for the whole series? To me I think it is stupid for JK to tell us that for the whole series because then what would be the point of us finding out the prophecy only to know harry wont die so obviously we'd assume voldemort does.

To late for that, i've always assumed. I think since its a bit of a popular series of books (:P) that she wouldnt want to upset her little fan base, i mean they would be destraught wouldnt they!

S16, I have always thought that, but I am starting to see the point of the "Harry sacrifices himself" crowd. I still cling to the hope that he lives, however, I have a feeling that JK has the ability to write it in a way that makes Harry the tragic hero of mythology. He could find some relief in death if the veil provides an image of his parents and Sirius existing in another 'dimension' where he could join them.

Here are the things that are leading me there:
1. The voices behind the veil... Harry was drawn to them.
2. Dumbledore's insistence that there are things worse than death and that it is the next great adventure.
3. JK's recent suggestions that we consider WHY voldie didn't die in Godric's Hollow and WHY DD didn't kill Voldemort in the MoM.

But then again, she could be trying to get me to think this way, so that I will consider the plausibility that he could die and thus be happier when he doesn't.

Here's the deal... I TRUST HER TO HANDLE THE ENDING WELL.

Point well made Molly! I trust its going to be good, and it will be the best for Harry. Although i wont agree with it IF he dies, i would have to see that its best for him..

Just had a brain wave - did we find out in book 5 that Lily and James were in the order? That could be what JK is refering to :dunno:

When I was thinking about the 'important' thing we learn about Lily in book 5, I think about the fact that she hated James. So in another thread, I put as a joke that Harry would have to go back in time to get his parents together, so that he would be born. - Note, I said as a joke. Then I read this:

QUOTE
* Q. Will Harry time travel again? A. Not telling

JK must be reading my mind!

QUOTE
Oh --- and I just can't think that James and Lilly were teachers at Hogwarts. However, I give credit for a novel theory. I've never heard that one before.

Yes, I like this theory, because it seems to fit in so well. Well, apart from a few problems. But, like I said, it isn't mine.

Thanks Bunny, that's a really good site!

What could these rights of passage be? His voice breaks? Now I would like to see THAT!

Well, it's about midnight here, and I am about to drop out of my chair with tiredness. Night night, everyone. xxx

Like you Molly, I wouldn't have it EVER that Harry will die, but I too am starting to have second thoughts for the very same reasons that you quoted, eg. DD's comments re death, plus I really believe Harry and V are connected/fused together via the scar and I keep going back to the ending of the Narnia books, and how they all were 'dead' (as far as the world they had lived in was concerned) yet they were very much alive in a new world (dimension) and they met up with others who too had died and they all seemed happy and not at all distressed. It was done in a rather 'tasteful' way so as not to shock or upset the young reader.

It seems to be a trend to go the way of books ending in the manner that Narnia did, or even movies, like the Matrix series, to end up killing the major characters. I would hope JK would not go with this trend. Yes, I know that some people feel that if the main character sacrifices him/herself for the good of his friends, and they all live happily ever after because of good killing evil for the cause is acceptable. But to me, it isn't.

I've just had a discussion with my nephew about this, and he feels there is nothing worn with this, but in my opinion, it's becoming too trendy, and I hope JK doesn't follow this trend.

Yes, all the statements that molly gave were valid points to worry that maybe Harry might be sacrificing himself to save the wizarding world. But then again, maybe it's a prelude to how Harry has to deal with V, and that by V dying it would finally bring him to wholeness and happiness, and he can be at peace with himself. I know this may be far fetched, but it's better, at least to me, then having Harry die.

I know that this statement by DD
QUOTE
Dumbledore's insistence that there are things worse than death and that it is the next great adventure.
seems to have people thinking that Harry is going to die. I refuse to believe that this is what DD is referring to. I could very well be wrong, but it gets depressing to have people always thinking the worse, and feeling such relief when it turns out to be just the opposite. So I am going to stick with the positive, and if it turns out to be the worse, I will do what I have always said I would do.

THROW THE PIECE OF JUNK IN THE GARBAGE.

What ever happened to the happy endings, and people looking on the bright side of the theories.

And I also know that everyone is trying to figure out where JK is coming from, and I don't begrudge anyone their theories. This is just my opinion, and I will now climb down off my :soapbox: and leave quickly while ducking all the comments that will be thrown at me, or at least want to be thrown at me. :footinmouth:

Perhaps Dumbledore's insistence that there are things worse than death and that it is the next great adventure is in part to instill a bit of his wisdom upon Harry-- wisdom that shows that Dumbledore is not afraid of death. Not that I would like for him to die, but perhaps it is foreshadowing his own death instead of Harry's.

I'm with Baty. Harry is going to live.

OoooOh, kiddies, y'know what?! I think JK's playing with our heads.

NAH, YOU DON'T SAY

Maybe she's using the technique I like to call 'Making the readers brain swim in circles.' This is an ancient technique. Yes siree. What she could be doing is...

Making us think Harry will die. (she always say's blah, blah, who says he's going to live? blah...)

With me so far? Okay, but then we all say 'but that's too obvious/sad/unrealistic!' But then of course, we question ourselves and say, maybe that's what she wants to think - because if we're all saying he won't flash she can take us by surprise and kill him!!!

Nooo. But then that exact thought comes into mind. So then you think she'll let him live, but then you think maybe she wont'...whatever.
Heheh. If you didn't get that no worries, I'm not sure I did either. :blockhead:

Oooh, JK hurts my head.

Well, whatever happens, let's hope he doesn't wake up and realise it was all a dream, aye kiddies?

Quit calling us Kiddies!

as i said to Molly-

We could all think like this a lot, but end up going round in circles

So we read the clues that point to Harry dying....and believe it, JK wants that. Or does she know we figure it out and really Harry does die, because what we thought in the first place was the result of a Red Herring

All we can do 'Kiddies' is wait...

Totally.
There has to be some huge thing in this crazy world of Potter that is not important at all. Hohoho - if there was though...what would it be? HmmmMmm... I know maybe Harry find's out that he's not the real thing, and all his good fortune of beating Voldie was just...luck.

Hahaha, can you imagine?
Oh, JK you're a mean lady to be messing with our heads like this. I salute you.

Bye kiddies! heh, I'm probably like, the youngest person on here, hello! I'm like 8 years old.

Joke.

Okay, I know it was a bad joke.

OMG, I just realised someone's already used the word kiddies on this topic - I swear I did not steal it from you, k?
