I'm not a mean person or anything, but I consider myself Syltherin because I love to have power over people and I can be very cunning.

[SIZE=7] 02:D I like slytherin because I love a House that has power and slytherins are mostly all evil and arogant because there purebloods. They also have an interesting history. 02:D
And ofcourse snape can be cruel but you just love it at the same time! 10a:rolleyes:

Yup. Well, I personally don't really like Slytherin, but once in a blue moon it's fun to break a few rules. You know cause a little mischeif. LOL! I feel like doing a little mischief myself right now, but then again I can't think of anything good enough. LOL! Well, I picked Slytherin because of this and not because of Draco or Tom or Snape or the actor who I forgot his name and my mom likes. Well, actually it's my grandma.

Well let's see... who is the coolest founder ? Slytherin, Gryfindor, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw?
The answear is easy Salazar Slytherin.
The Slytherin are more careful wich they choose to be their friends and that results in great lojalty between friends, and as we all now, Slytherin leads the way to power!

well, i don't think they're very loyal... I mean, they're loyal to themselves, aren't they?
But i still am a slytherin, even after what happened with my fave character, snape... no the new head of house is slughorn, and well, i like him, he shows perectly how the slytherin style works, and i loved it!!

Yeah, everyone seems to like Slytherin because being bad can be fun and people seem to like the Malfoys in the movie. Whilst I agree that it can be fun to "act" bad and the Malfoys are suave, I just don't get how being a bully and pushing others around for self profit can be fun.

Also what was said about power is right. Slytherin seems to be all about power and rising to one's ambitions. Now these things can be great things but I really don't like to see this get in the way of morality and justice. Whilst I respect and like Slytherin, there are some characteristics I just can't ever follow myself. Two of these are:

1. Seeking self before others
2. Stopping short on something for fear of being caught. Now this I just don't understand. If I believe in something I will tend to follow it through despite what authorities say, because love of "the cause" demands this. However slytherins seem to only follow through on their own ideals until there is a danger of getting caught..

Now, to be honest, I tend to see that as cowardice. However, I can see how they see it as being smart and I can see how in acting that way they are following their ideals. It's just that their ideals are self focused (e.g.ambition) not general ideals (e.g justice, love, kindness, loyalty..)

Anyway.. I'm getting a little off topic .. 01:)

archina, archina... there is this old saying: A Hero who lives is useful for another war!
it's not cowardice, the brave is that who knows when to run for it!!!
what did dumbledore ask harry? "if I tell you to run away or save yourself and leave me, you will do it?" (more or less, i haven't the book right here)

You know, at one time Godric and Salazar were best friends.

I can't help but get the feeling that there is more to the notion of being a Slytherin other than just "pureblood" bashing of mudbloods"..

Good Ole Slughorn had an obvious affection for Lily and I think Sniv may have had a MAJOR MASSIVE TOTAL affection for Lily. And the Masive guilt about her death, indirectly at his hands, is a crushing, painful blow to his psyche.

Hmmm....could be some good in all of us.

DD obviously thinks/thought so of Malfoy...And we know Malfoy couldn't bring himself around to really killing DD, even at the imminent threat to his OWN life that Voldemort probably inferred.

There may be some good people just waiting to break out of their facade, at the opportune moment.

Iareaj, that's very true. Like I said earlier - I know it's the smart thing to do - it's just that my instincts are always to stick things out and so, to me, if I did it, I'd see it as cowardice. I should work on that - I don't want to die young! 02:D

But yeah. Even though I'd probably be in Gyffindor, I do love the Slytherins. Not only are they loads of fun but they're pretty handy too. I myself suck at planning. I leap into mayhem all the time without a moment's thought. Now if I had Slytherin friends, they'd probably stay me a little and advise me to exercise more planning in my mayhem and I wouldn't end up getting into so many potentially dangerous situations. At the same time, unlike a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, they wouldn't advise me against my mayhem.. something I find very annoying!!!
01:) 01:) 01:)

Yeah, I can definately see how Godric and Salazar were great friends. And I think you're spot on doctorapk. I really reckon there's something there with Lily and Snape that will be revealed in book 7. It would explain a lot of ol'Snapie's feeling towards Harry. And I don't think Slytherins are evil. Just ambitious and sometimes when the winning side's the dark side this can make it seem like they're evil. But I bet there are a lot of Slytherins out there who are good and have found power and realised success without affiliating with the dark side. I'd expect to see them in the top jobs at the Ministry of Magic or something.. or there muggle equivalent as doctors, lawyers, advertisers and CEOs..

Nixseeker's Reasons to be a Slytherin-

1. They are resourceful and cunning
2. They are determined, and will let nothing sway them from their goals
3. Slytherins always turn a situation to their advantage
4. They are the house *everyone* would like to be in, if they were honest to themselves and didn't spend their lives conforming to what's 'right' or 'nice'
5. Oh, they have the coolest Head of House... *swoons*

No.

Thanks all the same, but I never was one for sewing and fluffy kittens. Unless it involves sewing the fluffy kittens to things...?
