Griffindor Girls, Do we know many? Options

It seems ludicrous to me that (seeing as students are sorted into houses due to their abilities and strengths) that exactly 5 girls and 5 boys from each year would be sorted into each house and that exactly 40 students would be enrolled each year.

In the first book it really didn't seem that there were many students being sorted... and only about 3 people seemed to get into gryffindor. There are many other gryffindor girls in other years, we just don't know their names.

In the Order of the Phoenix I remember there was 3 unknown girls who slid down the stairs after Harry and Ron attempted to run up into the girls dormitory.

I always wondered about that...so if 20 guys similar to Draco showed up one year, 4 would go to each house? Strange...

It's almost like the students are "pre-sorted."

Oh, yeah! Well, there must be more because I always believed Hogwarts to be packed. Maybe the rest aren't important. I can't name any more, so I don't know, but what if the other people mentioned are in houses that we don't know of. The people I mean. Well, this is what I mean. I mean, do we know what houses all of the people we know are in? Ok. Too complicated question. Never mind. Well, there are three on the Gryffindor team, two that I forgot the names, and Parvati, Lavender, and Hermione.

02:lol: You don't know what hoouse Cho is in? Ravenclaw, FYI. Anway, I believe that there are ten girls in each year that they enroll, so that makes it 70 on the girls side and 70 on the boys side which means there will be a total of 140 students per year, but then they have to sort them into houses, so we don't really know the exact number of girls, but we could all name what we kow and see how many. So far, this is what I think we all thought of:

Lavender Brown
Parvarti Patil
hermione Granger
Alicia
Angelina
Katie
Romilda Vane

I kind of agree with you Hermione@11 with the number of students, but this is what i think...

there are 5 boys in harry's year, so there must be 5 girls in harry's year.

So that makes ten students per year, per house.

there are seven years, so times ten by seven, you get seventy

then times seventy by four, becasue there are four houses, you get 280

Only 280 students??? I swear there would be more than that!

Oh, and I just thougth of another Gryffindor Girl

In HBP, when Katie and her FRIEND are fighting in Hogsmeade about the necklace/package , is her

No, but this is going to the sorting thing.
So I don't think that the students are pre-sorted, so I think that it is totaly possible that there could be only one gryfindor girl in a year, so i think that it is impossible to count how many people are in Hogwarts.
As for the girls......I have no idea except for the posts here.
