I know there are a lot of theories out there that it will be Arthur Weasley, but I just had a horifying (sp?) thought. Lucius Malfoy has a lot of power and money to throw around. I know he's in jail, but without the Dementors in place, that won't be for long. He's fooled everyone into believing that he was under the imperious curse once before, what's to top him from doing it again? And JKR has said that we are going to see more of Narcissa Malfoy. What about her? Is it possible that she will become the next minister?
If not Narcissa, and for arguments sake, let's say we know it's not Arthur, who else would be a canidate? Thoughts? -N |

I really doubt Arthur will become Minister. Although he is a prominent character in the series at the Ministry his level is at best middling and he works in a department that is really a bit of a backwater; two ways not to get ahead in a bureaucracy.
It would be more credible if Dumbledore took on the role and Minerva became head of Hogwarts. This would also allow an invigorating reshuffle of the staff. Snape as head of Gryffindor...wouldn't that be fun |

I doubt that mister weasley will become next minister too because he not very well linked in the ministry like Lucius malfoy. But i think that those who are too close from Fudge won't be in place for long!!!!!!
And I think the fact that everybody will believe him to be really close from Dumbledore and believing the truth from the beginning, will do a great deal in his favour!!! But i don't think dumbledore will want to become minister now everybody know he is back! It will surely be someone we don't know about right now!!! the only one he ever feared!!!!! :gandalf: |

I have to disagree with your post completely. It seems to me Arthur is a ready made replacement to be MoM for *the good of the country*. Working up the bureaucracy? I highly doubt the *book* will take this route. After all, this is not a democratic reality, but the invention of a wonderful mind (i'm talking about JK for those who are lost).
Once more, i have to disagree with this post completely. If anything, Arthur is more well connected to ministry employees than Lucius, twice over. Look at the running commentary he gives to Harry and Hermione in GoF and the number of times he's greeted by them. Sure Lucius is 'well' connected, well connected as he knows the more 'important' people, but that won't stand for much as he's in Azkaban and Fudge loses his office and *his* secretaries. And knowing Fudge doesn't count for much now, judging by some of his actions.... ... and there was of course that quote given by Ron. Didn't they win the Quidditch cup? |

Another thing important not mentioned is Arthur Weasley connections with Harry and Dumbledore.
Harry And Dumbledore are going to be very highly looked upon in book 6. Arthur is going to get bonus points for sticking his neck out. Everyone at the MoM knew that Arthur was on Dumbledores side. His muggle-loving, extremely hard working, and being well known through out the MoM in a good light are all clues as to why he will get the job. Plus think about his son Percy...could you imagine the reaction of Percy being his fathers employee after all that has happened. I feel certain Arthur will be the next MoM. And the Idea that Lucius will become the MoM can not be taken seriously. He will still play a part in all of this when they all break out of prison (like Draco said at the end of book 5) |

I also have to disagree. I think Arthur is very well liked in the Ministry. It was the influence of Fudge that kept people in the Ministry from being cordial to Arthur. I also do not think Lucius is well liked at all. He may have been before, but after being caught in full DE get-up, I think his popularity will take a plunge. :darkside:
I do agree that DD will not want to be the new MOM though. He didn't want the job before, why would we want it now? Especially when he knows the Dark Lord has returned "more powerful". DD knows where he is needed and the MOM is not it. I want Arthur to be the new MOM. I love his character and it would be nice to see the Weasley's start to get ahead for once instead of being held back. :D |

I know that Lucius and the other DE will break out of jail, simply to make the story more interesting and gory, however it worries me that this will be so because by rights DD is so magical that it would be no problem for him to put any number of spells and charms on them so that it would be physically impossible for them to escape. Maybe I expect too much logic from the books?

Yeah!! Arthur is likely to be the next minister for magic but why don't we think about some others people who could well become minister!!!
I thought Kingsley Schackelbot could do a great job if he was minister!!! he is one of the greatest character Jkl has ever made!!!! This is what makes me really keen to see more character in those book: they are all different. It's not like Jules verne's book which I love but good people in there are all the same and the bad guys too!!!! That's annoying sometime!!!! I would love to see Arthur as MoM...Malfoy would LOVE that :toofunny: If it happens that would be cool. When he takes Harry for his hearing he seems friendly with alot of people and you know he is loyal to the Ministry.
I doubt that it would be Lucius. Lucius was not really liked he just gave money out. The only person who did like him was fudge and stuck up people like Umbridge who dislike halfbreeds or non-purebloods. Remember that Lucius only gives money so bills will be passed to his liking. If the money stops they will not vote the way he wants. He was also friendly with Fudge....Fudge isn't high on the list anymore... |

1 he is in jail so he must break out or prove his innocence 2 If he break out he won't be trusted anymore so it will be hard for him to become minister!!!! 3 If he manages to prove that he is innocent, then it will mean he he will have given the ministry a lot of gold in exchange: Nobody will be trusting him anymore!!!!! And I don't think a lot of people trusted him before, he is wealthy and that is his greatest "quality"!!!! So I don't think Malfoy will become minister. As for Ron's prophecy :D , I think Jk just put it into the book to make people thinks that Mr Weasley will be next minister but it might be wrong!!!! Who knows??? um, how can he be the greatest character she ever made?? we dont know hardly anything about him and im sure he will play a bigger role as most characters in the series tend to but at the moment he was only a part of the order and advance guard........ :unsure:
what the one thats title is 'system of a down?' i downloaded both of the other two (steal this album and toxicity) and im starting that one now but not many are working. is it good???? *ahem* to get back on topic! i want arthur to be minister as well. he is a great man and although there are many ignorant people like fudge, crouch, percy and malfoy etc at the ministry i think that because arthur knows harry and is on very good terms with dumbledore he will gain more respect now. i dont know if jk will make him minister but it would be great. the weasleys could have more money then and have a better life and not be made fun of any more (by people like malfoy) i dont think lucius can possibly become minister now. he was caught by dumbledore and tied up along with other death eaters in the department of mysteries. there were 6 eye witnesses (first off) to his behaviour and the others' also and then the order arrived as well. there is plently of evidence that they were acting of their own accord. also their mansion could be raided to find information or go to the shop on knockturn alley and ask the owner (borgin and burkes or something like that??) dobby could also be questioned and im sure he would answer if harry gave him permssion because he seems to obey what harry tells him. |

Firstly RWR, when I said he is one of her greatest character, it is because no one ressembles him, he is the only calm and peaceful character we know!
Maybe I'm a bit overreacting on how godd the characters are, but now I think about it, I think all of her character are her greatest character, how can I prefer one of them??? Secondly, yes the first System of a down is eponymous and he is as good as the others are in my opinion!!! So enjoy it!!!! The only one he ever feared!!! |
