Okay you guys win... here goes nothing:

"I don't need another opponent," Tom muttered. It was so obvious he was only searching for excuses now. But why didn't he want to teach her? He couldn't rightly say.
Mia laughed and then cut off, blushing. "I won't ever be an opponent," she replied, suddenly sheepish.
"Why's that?" he asked.
"Look, will you teach me or not?" Mia looked practically ready to fall on her knees and kiss the ground at his feet.
Tom glanced over his shoulder, then dropped his gaze to the ground. "Are you up to it? It wouldn't be easy; I wouldn't tolerate slacking."
Mia's eyes flashed. "I'd die for it."
"Good," Tom said under his breath.
She didn't seem to notice, twisting her wand between her fingers nonchalantly. He couldn't stop from staring at her hands, having a strange urge to take them in his own.
"So is that a yes?" she asked without taking her eyes from her wand.
"Indeffinatly." Tom was dimly aware of himself leaning towards her, so he pulled back abruptly.
A smile crossed Mia's beautiful face. "I can't thank you enough."
"We start tomorrow night, midnight."
She nodded slowly. "Where?"
"Have you ever heard of the Room of Requi-"
"-rement. I was just going to suggest that," she finished.
"I'm sure," he snapped, trying to sound annoyed, but only succeeding in making his voice crack.
She giggled and turned, sweeping down the hall. Just before she rounded the corner, she looked back over her shoulder at him. "Tomorrow."
"Yah," he muttered as she left his view. Shockingly, he was excitied for tomorrow. The wait was already beginning to seem like forever. And he realized he was being more than slightly masochistic.

Dawn came an eternity later. Tom was staring out the window, glad to finally be able to see the sun shining through. Only eighteen more hours and he would see her again. He let out a stream of curses. Would this never end? What was his problem?
He threw the covers off and nearly jumped out of bed. He would be early to breakfast, but that was okay; he had nothing better to do. He left his dormitory and headed down to the Slytherin Common room.
It was nearly deserted, except for two females by the fire place. The dark-haired one raised her hand in greeting. "Hi, Tom. You're up early-"
"Not now, Bella," he cut her off. He exited the room quickly and began to make his way to the Great Hall. He knew what he was hoping, or rather, who he was hoping would be there. He hated himself all the more for it.
'A girl,' he reasoned, 'you'd ruin everything over a girl.' His inner self nodded in pleasure. He cursed. "I hate you, you know that?" 'I know.'
"You alright, Tom?"
He looked up sharply. Sure enough, there Mia stood as stunning as ever. His mouth hung open lamely.
"I'm fine." His reply was muddled; it was a miracle she understood. She grinned.
She indicated to the doors of the Great Hall. "Hungry?"
He shook his head. "You?"
"Not really," she replied flatly, "What with the anxiety and all."
"Anxiety?" he pretended to be clueless, "about what?"
She raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you a terrible liar."
"Not usually," he said.
Mia laughed curtly. "I know. But why the sudden change around me?"
His breath caught. "Not just you..."
"Oh?"
"I mean, not just girls-"
"I see..."
"Not that there are any others."
"Is that so?"
"Well, not that it matters, I guess-"
"Mhhm."
"I mean, it does matter but not-"
He cut off groaning. Something was seriously wrong with him. He'd never been like this, never. Words had always come so easily, and now he was a tongue-tied freak making a fool out of himself.
"It's okay, Tom, I get it."
He blushed furiously. He blushed? He didn't even realize he was capable of that... or that he ever actually would. This girl was going to turn him into a laughing stock. 'You sick, masochistic, moron,' he cursed himself.
"I'd better get going," she told him.
"Oh."
"My friends don't really know I'm so- uh- so enthusiastic about opposing view points, shall we say?"
"Sure, right."
"Yah." She waved shortly. "See you tonight."
"Tonight," he said a little to dreamily as she turned away.
