I was wondering a few things about Mad-Eye Moody when I was rereadng through the fourth book. We know that Crouch Jr. was Moody the entire school year, so why then did he actually teach the students? He taught them to defend themselves against the Cruciatus curse, but why? I understand that it was so he wouldn't blow his cover, but he could have done other things.
I also realize that he had to do something to get Harry to believe he was a real Auror and trustworthy, but I think he could have done smaller things like Lupin did. Any thoughts? |

Well I have three ideas....
first i think it was to not blow his cover. DD was a really close friend of Mad Eyes and so I think in order to make his act realistic he had to teach the students about the darkest magic and how to protect yourself from it or since he put hte imperius curse on them maybe that was to see how good of a wizard Harry was. Test out his powers because if he was an amazing wizard then he would want to warn LV or maybe JK just needed somewhere to explain the unforgiveable curses and what they do. and the best place to do that is in DADA. |

i totally agree with you, and what is more important, he needed to show himself as a paranoid, and show the students the most terrible curses, because that's what the real moody would do, showing them that and teaching them to be in constant allert, or something of the sort...
