I become absorbed in it! I read it in my head, but I can hear them all and see them. I feast on it... quickly. Then I go back later and read more slowly.

I read in my head, but like others here, because I saw the movies first (except for GoF) all my charactors sound like the actors. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Now, my 9-year-old daughter is reading the books (she's on book 2) and she's beginning to talk to me in a British accent. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) The day she asks me for a 'spot of tea', she gets shipped over the pond. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/spin.gif) By the way, she's developed her first celebrity crush, guys! Yes, it's young Daniel Radcliffe. She thinks he's got a 'sweet face'. Can't really blame her much.

Your daughter has very good taste Sally! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

She has a great taste (with both England and Dan)! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Did she send a birthdaycard to him before his birthday? I did, hopefully I'll get my newsletter and picture soon! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Anyway, a friend of mine said that I should read the books aloud, just to get to speak British English, I'm not that good at it, because we're only speaking Swedish at home. I'm better on writing in English. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But I'm going to start reading aloud to myself when I read HP...

I kinda can't read out loud anyways. And my brothers and sister don't like it. Sally, I like your daughter's taste in actors! I like Dan, too.

This may sound silly but I read the books one word at a time. Trying to savor it as long as I can. Now if JK just doesn't mess everything up and kill one of my four kids off so I can read the last book the same way.

Nina she didn't send a birthday card because she didn't really know she could. I guess because I'm not really into writing fan letters or wanting to meet these people, and never have been, I haven't really passed that along to her. She just gushes and watches the movies! She likes to look at photos of Dan too. She did proclaim her love for him and I'm afraid that was a bit much for me to handle. 9 years old is still quite young! I don't really think she even knows what she's talking about. Fortunately, she loves horses as much as she loves Dan, so I am able to distract her a bit. Now, if Dan Radcliffe ever showed up on our doorstep riding an Arabian Stallion, I'm in serious trouble. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif)

My problem with reading these books has been that when they first come out, I race through them because I can't wait to see how they end. I miss a lot by doing that, so I reread them. It'll be the same when the last book comes out. If Jo does end up killing off one of the kids, I'll go back and begin the series over again in a sad attempt to bring them back to life.

I think it is better to read in you'r head. The reading flows. I tried it for a chapter and i agree with all the 17 of you that voted "in yo'u head". Much better.

yup
But, if it is funny, I read it out loud to my brother, laugh, and he says,"I don't get it." And then I get mad and read in my head once more.

i read in my head. i did at one point read aloud but that was because my parents liked to hear me read. and with each harry potter book i read the last page first and then i read the whole thing. i am just curious if any of you other HP fans ever imagioned Malfoy fat? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laughing.gif) cause until the movies came out i did. and i think that i actually imagined harry, ron, and hermy like they are in the movies. oh yea and i sometimes re-read parts in the book many times just to make sure that it really happened.

I always read in my head. But when I read, I imagine the characters as they are in the movies. This is kind of off the topic, but does anyonew think that the Dumbledore in POA, GOF etc is a bit too energetic and lively and just too different from the dumbledore in PS, COS?

I mostly read in my head, but sometimes if i'm bored I read out loud. But that usually takes longer, so I don't do that a lot.

I'm finally starting book 5 in Spanish. It takes me a long time to get through each book (since Spanish is not my native tongue). Each book gets more difficult, as well, with less-common words. The verbs are what really get me, though. I have a personally policy that says, "You don't stop to look up every word. You try to figure it out from the context of the story." Well, sometimes it's on the next page before I figure out what happened!

It'll keep me busy for awhile as I wait - eagerly - just like the rest of you for the 5th movie and the 7th book!

I read mostly in my head, but occasionally to my mom or baby sister. Sometimes me and my cousin talk to each other in a British accent and we love to see our other boy cousin look at us and ask every time, "How do you guys do so good on British accents?"

In my head...Definately.
I used my immagination to go to Hogwarts and listen to them live.In fact each character came with his/her own accent in my mind and passed away replacing others. It is really cool. When I read sometimes I laugh loudly, that's when my mom says, what's wrong with you?!

Please spell out ALL your words! Thanks...
