I doubt very much that JK Rowling would want to change the realease time of the books (summer).

my first thought about "Deathly Hallows" was that it referred to the Deatheaters and a holiday they would venerate.

What d'ya think? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blockhead.gif)

OMG, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif) I certainly hope not!!! I can't wait that long!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/weeping.gif)

Sorry to hear that! Hope you get better soon! :)
Same thing crossed my mind, but I don't think so, Dij. Halloween is on a Wednesday next year. No, I think that unless she gives us a publication date for next summer within the next few days as an extra present, that we won't get it till 2008. I hate to say it, but she's not real big on non-summer releases. If it isn't the summer of '08, I'm going to guess at a Christmastime of '07 release. Her final gift to us all. :(

You're Killing Me!!! It better be sooner then that!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/comp26.gif)

I do think that Deathly Hallows refers to the Horcruxes... so when it says Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows it pretty much means something along the lines of Harry and the Horcruxes or his "battle" with them. But I've been known to be wrong before... however I think it would make a lot of sense considering that's what a considerable amount of the book has to be about; him finding and destroying them... and then Voldemort of course.

It'll be cool to see how this plays out, because Prince was such a surprise, so none of us can be sure can we? It wouldn't surprise me if it only had to do with one chapter of the book. LOL

Maybe the Hallows part in the title is a new thing. We might not know about this.

It could very well be a new thing. This way we'd all be surprised. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well, the only reason I didn't jump up screaming is because my baby sister was in the room sleeping and I could've been grounded, so I didn't take that chance, but my brain had a little party in my head! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/party009.gif)

I think Deathly Hallows refers to Hogwarts. Hallowed Halls, and all that stuff. I don't believe the climax will take place on Halloween. That would only be two months into the new school year.

I have to say I'm not so wild about the title. It's mighty confusing since Hallows is not a word routinely used in the US. It's not even in the Merriam Webster dictionary. Surely she could have come up with a better title... something more understandable. Ah well.... looking forward to reading the book, even if I am not wild about the title.

Anyone find it interesting that Deathly is SEVEN letters and Hallows is SEVEN letters?

Coincidence???

Hey, more about the Hallows being an item of great spiritual value. Sorry I didn't expand on it before, but whilst googling Hallows, I discovered that The Holy Grail is often referred to as The Hallowed Grail. For more on this just Google Hallows Grail. Also, alot of sites talk about the ledgend of King Arthur and the sword in the stone being, a hallowed grail that is an item of great worth and spiritual significance. It may seem a little bit iffy but I find it intriguing.

For me the Deathly Hallow's makes me think of the Horocruxs as we know book 7 will be mainly about them. So for the moment (keep in mind I will change my mind possibly hundreds of times before the book actually comes out) I'm going with a deathly horocruxs kind of thing.

It's quite funny cause I think that makes perfect sense. Though I also think the "hallowed halls of Hogwarts" make sense too. But I must admit, I'm rather fond of the two other definitions that are around as well. The "to honor as holy; consider sacred; venerate: to hallow a battlefield" one and the "The beginning of the Witches' Year, when the Veil Between the Worlds grows thin and the spirits of the dead may return to Earth" one.

Everything I've read about people thinking it'll be on Halloween surprises me. It doesn't have to take place on the Halloween into the seventh year. In can take place on Halloween after they are out of school. I mean, it's going to take Harry a long time to find all of these Horcruxes. I don't see why she can't have him have his final confrontation with V on the Halloween after he is out of school. It will go beyond the normal standard of the books we have had so far, yes. But, when he finishes seventh year he will technically be a graduated, fully qualified and legal wizard resident fully capable and allowed to use magic outside school. In fact, I can almost see the actual months he is in Hogwarts (yes, I believe he'll go to school) as research time. Maybe he'll go out and destroy one or two during the year, maybe all of them except V himself which will be on Halloween after seventh year. But, to extend the book a few months past the standard, (what is it? June? July?) time limit that we have wouldn't be that big of a deal. Then she can have Harry finish off V and live happily ever after with Ginny. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I find the whole seven letter thing not to be a conicidence at all. Seven is the magic number after all and so it would make sense. Wahaha! I'm so happy we finally know the title. I was so not expecting it. Thank you Jo for this wonderful Christmas presant! You made the whole season a bit brighter (which is saying something considering with all the snow it's still pretty bright!)

I find the seven words in deathly hallows very interesting. Jo is very much into word games, and I think it would be just like her to do something like that.

I think what I'm going to do is put all the meanings we've found on the words in a pinned topic. This way they're easy to find. Sound good? Someone just sent me a very interesting article on the meanings of Hallow, and it has something to do with the King Arthur stuff mentioned earlier.

See Hallows Definitions thread here.

AAAAAH! Looks like we're not getting the book this summer....like Dij says, unless Jo throws us a surprise on Christmas day saying she's finished the book, I don't think it can come out in summer.

Yes it seems so too. But do you think that JK Rowling would stop here sequences of realeasing the book in the summer, just to realease it in the halloween for one book?

Ah but I wish she would, just so we could have it! I think I'm being selfish... but it doesn't count when it's for Harry Potter books. As long as you don't go to the extreme that is.

I think she may just find a way of releasing them in the summer...she may have already finished it and is just trying to throw everyone off....of course, maybe not. But I like to believe that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

No, I don't think she's close to finishing it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) She doesn't usually release the title right before the book comes out, so I think she just felt sorry for us and gave us a little taste.
