did i tell you guys that we had a nine day festival called 'navaratri' where we arrange decorative dolls and dieties on temporarily set up steps? and that we make miniature models to make everything look better? and that i made a model of HOGWARTS? well, if i hadn't i just did so now! 02:lol:
here are the pics that i took of the arrangements.

rangoli/kolam
this is something that is called a 'rangoli' in hindi and 'kolam' in our regional language. it is a sort of painting done on the floor. this one is of Lord Vishnu with his consort Godess Lakshmi, on his 'bed', the coiled up, five headed divine snake named 'Aadishesha'.

Main arrangement
this is what we mainly do for the festival. the steps have always to be an odd number. we kept five steps this time.

Hogwarts
notice the bridge, clocktower courtyard, the bridge, the three infamous rocks of POA at one of which, Draco got what he deserved from Hermione,hagrid's hut, the steps leading to it, the whomping willow, the road with the horseless carriages, the quidditch pitch, hogsmeade station and the hogwarts express and the winged boars at the entrance to the grounds from hogsmeade station.

Dumbledore's hair and robes and rita skeeter took forever and ever! but i'm happy with the end result.

Dumbledore and Snape here's the hushed conversation that the two have in POA.

The Four Champions this one is partly based on my imagination and partly from the movies. the robes of the guys are a mix of janie temime's costumes for the movie and a bit of my own touches. fleur, i felt completely free to create! do you like her? 02:lol:
btw, did this one on the day prior to my chemistry final exam that i took a few months ago.

Saruman
for those of you interested in LOTR, this is Saruman, standing on the tower of isengard holding the palantir(a sort of crystal ball for those who do not know).

so so so...laborious mail to have read trhough, i know. but if you did het through till here, i am glad you did! if you just skipped to the end of the post..then...well..shame on you! 02:lol:

I'm back! The camp was good. Good accomodation. Beds good, (we had to have our own sleeping bags) the only bad thing was the food (tasteless) and then the trip back, cause the bus' clutch broke, so we had to wait for a new bus to come, which took close to an hour, then we had to load everything back onto the new bus and leave. Jusy about 2hrs on the road.Complete bordem and i was very tired.

But i;m back now and ready to get back into the groove. Iv got to write a 4-6 page essay for ancient history. But ow well, that is life!

WHOA Sriv! I liked all the drawings, paintings and the model of HW. It was interesting to see the steps with the figures that you arranged. Is it a family project that you do each year for the festival?

My favorite picture was the poster for GOF. YOu did an amazing job in the likenesses of the charaters, especially in Fleur, Harry , and DD. Also in the model you showed such great attention to detail. It even looked like there were Quidditch players soaring above the Q. pitch. You are unbelievable!! 39:clap:


Cruticus, hope you remember your trip forever. I was just reading about a school trip I took at 16 to New Orleans. I wrote in my journal about it, where we went, what we ate, the bus ride, etc. So funny to read it 22 years later! I have more than doubled my age. We saw artifacts from the tomb of Alexander the Great. We ate a Cafe Du Monde on the French Quarter. I heard that they reopened yesterday. Anyway, glad you are back. 21:highfive:

Bella, that is just horrid! I was just a recent victim of bad back pain myself (which is almost gone, thank you for the tips Baty 15^_^ ) and that was painful enough. To even imagine what you must have been going through, I, I can't do it. It must've been excrutiating. I am so happy to hear that things are better now. 02:D

No there aren't a lot of people who are on at one time, but we do have some long time residents and eventually they stray in and say a few words.

ooh because potter is filmed here? yeh i know the place, I live 15 minutes away from the bridge where the Express stopped in POA and I've been to where they filmed Hogwarts which is half an hour away from me

But yeh, going to the grounds where Hogwart's was filmed was truly amazing, the hair on my neck stood on end..so spooky
