Has anyone noticed that the picture on the book sleeve is of the final fight scene? It looks like Voldemort has just been hit by his rebounded curse and is falling to the ground. Then you can see Harry reaching up to catch the Elder Wand. You can also see the silhouettes of all the people circling them.
I thought most people would catch this but everyone I have asked about it seems to be totally shocked when I tell them |

Hmmm...that's weird. I always imagined that the cover was the final battle. I thought everyone else knew that. It's sort of like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody where people never see the connection between London Tipton and Paris Hilton!

That was the hypothesis in the theories board under the discussion on the cover. |

The front is of the trio in Gringotts and the back is of Hogwarts, under moonlight, some golden light eminating from the door. Is this one of those magic eye things from the 80s where you have to stare at it for 5 mins before anything happens? |

I had a gut feeling that it would come to this. We're looking at the American version and, I believe, you have the British Children's version? Well, yeah. Our's shows a curtain, rubbish on the floor, Voldemort falling, Harry trying to get something soaring to him, and people all around them.

While wearing the mokeskin purse thing Hagrid gave him (not, as it turns out, the locket). |

Try google and just type in something like "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows American Cover" or words to that effect. I'll see if I can find a good link... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) EDIT: Went to the liberty of getting it for you. Click here to see a hi-definition version of the American cover or just the front cover here. Just wondering but does anyone else have book posters? I got the DH one and it's huge! It wouldn't even fit on my door. The wideness obviously. It's not like it was bigger than my door. I had to put it just above my bed under my other posters. Lol! It shows the whole jacket.

I hadn't figured out what the book cover picture was, until reading this thread. I thought it was maybe in the MoM and that it showed Harry & a dementor. Now I see what, perhaps, everyone else already knew.
Thanks for the clue! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

What were the curtains there for?
As far as I remember there was no curtains in the great hall.. Maybe JKR told the painters to do this to confuse people into thinking Harry and V were intitially behind the viel. I know thats what I thought (IMG:style_emoticons/default/upsidedown.gif) |

So chuck it up as trying to confuse the reader. LOL |

I know thats what I thought (IMG:style_emoticons/default/upsidedown.gif) Curtains were used in the first book too. I took it as meaning the opening of a story (the curtains rising or opening) and in the second book, the curtains closing. |

It's confusing because it looks like it's outdoors, and we don't recognize it as the great hall (If you're like me you visualize the stuff as it is in the movies). But remember it's dawn and the ceiling takes the form of the sky in the great hall. Voldemort is falling and Harry is reaching for the wand. I assume you're referring to the American version.
