QUOTE(Hermione_Granger @ Nov 6 2007, 06:35 AM) hey everyone As you might all know, JK R's writing a new book...Tales of Beedle the Bard(also mentioned in HP and the DH) Anyone know when it's coming out? can't wait to read it!!!but it won't be as good as the HP series... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) All that I have read indicates that these books will not be published. They are hand written and 6 are going to special people and the other will be actioned off. Unless she gives permission to publish or they are copied and put on the net, we will not see them. :~/ I have feelings about this since fans have followed her for so long; it feels like she is ignoring the people who brought her to fame. :~/ {{{just a tad disgusted}}} Below is a comment that was on the New York Entertainment page on line... I totally agree QUOTE As fans, we of course want to read the book and think it's a little bit outrageous that the only people who will get to read it are six of Rowling's close friends, and one outrageously rich Sotheby's bidder. If the handwritten books were made, as Rowling claims, to thank "those most intimately involved with the phenomenally successful series," couldn't she have saved a copy for those most to thank for the series' success — the fans?

QUOTE I have feelings about this since fans have followed her for so long; it feels like she is ignoring the people who brought her to fame Totally, totally agree. NOT COOL JKR! I was so upset, I mean honestly, we don't all have $2 Million to bet on the book. Her loyal fans have been with her from the beginning, I kinda feel like she could've just given those books to her friends without makeing sure the rest of us knew we were missing out. It's kind of like rubbing it in our faces. I really, really, hope that in a few years she gets the book published so her loyal fans can at least read it. |

I think this is her way of thanking the people who worked extremely hard with her on her books. I think it's good of her to thank them in this manner. It's more special that she made something by hand to do it instead of giving monetary awards.

Why not just give the books in private and not make such a spectacle about it? |

I think they were private. I know I had no idea about them. It's just she decided to do the one public so have the money go to charity.

Yea, but in a way, she has given those people millions of dollars. If they sell the book...they'd be very rich. And the longer the hold on to it...the richer they'll be. Instead of only making the hand-written ones (which she could give as presents and charity), she could of made normal paper-pack editions for us. Its a good thing she's thinking of charity, but she could of sold the normal paper-back editions too with part of the sales going to charity. she would have made more than 2 million dollars. |

Well, we can ungrateful little kids ourselves, can't we? I would love to read the stories, too. But I appreciate that she wants to truly thank her friends who helped her out all these 17 years. It would cheapen her gift to her friends to make those stories available to us so soon. Right now, those friends have something truly special.
Maybe someday we'll get to read the stories too. I really want to read the "cackling stump" one! |
