Alright guys, let me know what you think. If you think he will die, why and/or how? If not, why not?
Just curious, here. In my opinion, I think Draco MIGHT die, but I hope not. If he does, I think it will be from *hopefully* changing to the Light Side.
If he lives, I still hope he changes to the Light side.
Anyway, I'd like some more opinions. What do you guys think?

I would be so sad if Draco turned good. Like Snape he is one of those characters you love to hate.
I don't want him to die, I just hope Ron gets a chance to knock him on his rear!! Wait Hermione already did that.

haha, Baty. I really hope Draco doesn't die, but as far as him turning good, I'm both for it and against it.

I don't want him to die and I don't think he will. I think he's a forever Harry-hater and won't turn to the Light side. But I have a feeling Lucious Malfoy is gonna die. Draco though? Nah, who would kill him?
I Love Tom Felton
Apr 13 2005, 10:59 PM
I don't know who would kill him. I just hope he doesn't die. He's one of my favorite characters. But I agree with you, I think Lucius Malfoy will die.

Yeah, Lucious is a gonner. Not that it's important, but I wonder how he would die.

Very true, HiddenFlame42. He is a terrific baddie. And I agree about him dying to save one of the trio. Definitely too Fanfic.
I really hope Draco doesn't die. Like I said, he is one of the best characters.

*waves banner saying: LONG LIVE DRACO MALFOY* lol
I had this theory ages ago though on a "who's gonna die" thread that said that I thought Draco was going to die though...hold on lemme find it...
*time lapse*
Yeah, here it is from my "Death List":
Draco Malfoy - One of my wierdest predictions yet. I dunno, but the chapter entitled "Draco's Detour" made me think "DEAD END", especially as JKR has always referred to him as Malfoy and not Draco. It just seemed so out of place. I may be completely wrong here, but it has got me worried anyway. Ideas anyone?

Apr 16 2005, 10:52 AM
I think it's entirely possible that Draco will die. I sincerely hope not. He's one of the greatest characters. He really shouldn't die. I hope he lives throughout the entire series.

about that theory based in the name of the chapter Draco's Detour...
i dont think he'll die there, is abit to early to kill a character, i mean in the first cahpters. yes, i know that harry's parents were dead from the first chapter in PS/SS... but... well i don't even think he'll die...

Oh Snape is such a loveable character to..... dislike....

The book wouldn't be complete without Snape.
The only one he ever feared
Apr 19 2005, 06:02 AM
He definitely won't!! It will be too easy to chuck all the character we dislike out of the story! Snape won't as well!!

Apr 19 2005, 08:16 AM
I hope Draco and Snape will live. That would be great. I'm not so sure about Snape though. I have a theory that he will die in the Final Battle, maybe for Harry, and therefore proving that he was on the Light side all along, contrary to what the Trio keeps thinking. lol

I just hope that all of the visiously evil but lovely people stay alive until the end of the Harry Potter series. But Draco is not SO important as if to kill off all of a sudden. It would really surprise us but i don't think that he has even the slightest of a chance of dying. So i'm not worried.

Hm, am glad to say you've got a point there cruticus. I don't want him to die, and yet I still have it stuck in my mind that "Draco's Detour" means he's going to die. Go figure! lol

well, it could also mean, his detour for not catching the train to hogwarts, his own method leanrt over the summer break...

Apr 29 2005, 11:54 AM
OT: There is something that needs to be pondered. Draco's Detour is the title for chapter 6. The last two books, Harry wasn't even at Hogwarts in Chapter 6. So, is this something that occurs outside of Hogwarts and Harry, for some reason, is with Draco at this point, or is it something that may occur on the way to Hogwarts?
On topic: No, I do not think Draco will die by the end of the Series. I can't explain it, but I really feel he will not die.
HiddenFlame42

in reply to WWW's OT:
Harry's going to spend the least amount of time ever at the Dursleys - so he could be at school by chap6. Especially if the book starts towards the end of the summer.
WickedWitchOfTheWest
Apr 29 2005, 07:03 PM
Continuing OT:
Yeah, I know it'll be the shortest stay ever, but in GOF he was taking the Portkey to the QWC, and in OOTP he was just arriving at Grimmauld Place. Not near school time. And considering this book is just slightly shorter than GOF, I'm thinking that Harry will be near Draco before school starts and will witness this "detour". Well, obviously, he has to be. This is from Harry's POV, lol. But I think the odds of this happening before school are very good. I'm gonna keep wondering what it could be. I've wondered before if perhaps it has something to do with the DE's at Azkaban, but I can't see Draco making any kind of "detour" there unless it's to just go there, which still makes me wonder if maybe Harry will go to Azkaban to testify against the DE's. All I can say is that I hope so. I'd love to see Azkaban.
Okay, I'm going to have to send myself a Warning if I keep getting off topic in this thread. If this conversation needs to continue, I'll just start a thread for it and we can continue it there. I'll just copy and paste a couple of the previous posts into it, and then it'll all be good.

Apr 30 2005, 04:52 AM
again OT:
i dont know if you mentioned it WWW cause i just glaneced over, but the style JK is writing is that Harry is there no matter what. In the invisibility cloak, or flying on his broom over trees. Whatever, Harry is always there.
now, back on topic Will Draco die by the end of the series?

I kinda hope he doesn't die, because everytime he torments Harry, Harry seems to do something super fantastic, and it's so satisfying to read about Draco being all upset! I dunnow, that's what I think....By the way, this is my first post here guys! (So...umm.."Hi!")

Yes, welcome to the boards. I hope you like it.

We're all friendly.
OT: I have been thinking about Draco's Detour as well. I think that maybe for some reason that he and Harry will be together by some strange coincidence. Maybe they run into each other somewhere, or maybe Draco gets lost and ends up near Grimmauld Place or something.
Back on topic: I really don't think Draco will die. He's a fantastic character, and not one that should be killed off. And I agree, I think it's great to read about Draco being upset after he mocks Harry and then Harry does something great!

I know this sounds way goofy, but after seeing Draco falter and DD, skilled in legilmency telling Draco "You're not evil" I've got this funny feeling that Draco is going to do a 180, like Regulus. After he sees what the "Dim" Lord (No misprint, intentional jibe) has in mind, Draco is going to think "forget this". I don't think Draco is going to be able to forget DD's last moments and is going to be "converted". As to whether he dies, 50/50. But if he dies I think it's going to be fighting the Dim Lord, not helping him.

intresting thoughts, i think draco (i know many people have already said this, buuut,) will become good and fight against the "dim lord" (very nice btw,) with harry/hermy/ron/luna/neville/ginny and LV will kill his mom and dad and then the OOtP will help him like DD said they could. Well, since the book already came out now and he didn't die I think that he might die in the 7th book. I mean if he did join V maybe V would get angry when he figures out the Snape did the unbreakable vow and then he would try to kill Snape and Snape would die and then Malfoy might commit suicide because he's so scared. Wait! I just thought of something else. What if Snape dies trying to save Draco and then he has this magical protection too, but then woudn't it like die right away because he would've come of age early?

If Draco dies (and I hope not, he's far too interesting a character) he will not die at Harry's hand, nor will any other 'good' wizard kill him. My money's on his Father or Voldemort finishing him off, with Narcissa turning against the Death Eaters in grief for her son (whi she sincerely adores and loves.)
Either that or Narcissa will die protecting Draco, giving him the same protection against Voldemort that Harry was gifted by Lily; and finally Draco and Harry are equals, united by a common bond- the strength of a Mother's love.
Oh, so many theories...
