Dont you think Dumbledore's a little too obsessed with harry?
Dijares
I think that Dumbledore feels that he has a great responsibility with Harry. Remember that he was head of the Order in which Harry's parent's belonged to. As he was the leader, and Harry's parents were killed, he feels that he must take care of Harry. Additionally, I believe that only Dumbledore realizes the importance of what/who Harry is. Basically the entire future of the wizarding world leans on what happens with Harry and the knowledge that Dumbledore carries.

i agree with Dij on this one. he has a responsibility to look out for Harry and if his way is by treating him better than others, then so be it.
iareaj
well, yes, he take care of harry, but he got a little obsessed... but i don't blame him, is a good obsession, he wanted harry to be happy....

See I don't take it as an obsessive behavior of DD's. As has been said, he has a responsibility to Harry like a parent. Harry is in danger, and let's face it, it is DD's responsibility as Head Master to make sure ALL students are safe, and Harry is a little more special then most there, at this present time. So obsessed no, overly concerned yes, and rightfully so.

I think that Dumbledore has a great responsability over Harry and he has to be aware of everything that happens to him. however, the biggest mistake Dumbledore has made is to be so overprotective on Harry. He tried to protect him from knowing the truth, and when he tought Harry would be happier without knowing anything about the prophecy he made a big mistake.

If during the last summer in Privet Drive Dumbledore didn't let anyone to tell Harry what was going on, and he evaded him from the first moment because he was afraid Voldemort could posses Harry.

How could Dumbledore know that Harry had those strange dreams if he hadn't even told his friends? He must extremely powerful, more than I've imagined...

Wouldn't it had been better if he had told Harry some of his fears about Voldemort and warn him about them?

I'd like to know what you think
cruticus
DD's obsession is the protrection of Harry. So, that brings along that DD is only protecting him. Its not an obsession, its (if you want to put it this way) his missionm until V has been "destroyed".

No, i dont think he's too obsessed with Harry. He just wants to protect him.

No way, Dumbledore obviously cares for Harry for he knew Harrys parents and has grown to love him like a son I guess, I think Dumbledore feels greatly for Harry for he knows what responcibility is upon him, alot of which he is not aware.
cruticus
to sum up - DD wants to protect rather than being obsessed with him
Andeline_luvspotter123
No, Dumbledore is not *obsessed* with Harry, he just feels he should protect him. Like maybe harry's parents helped him one time, so now he feels it is his responsibility to take care of Harry.
~yeah I agree w/lozzybean~
!!lol!!
Maureen_Malfoy
He kinda is but that's because he is looking out for him and helping him.
Potterfreak92
i think dd could cut back and give harry his space. but, i also think it's good that dd is trying to protect harry.

I think DD was kinda obsessed but yet he sees the potential in Harry and knows the prophecy and knows he has to go up against LV in the end. So both yes and no.
the_prisoner_of_azkaban
I dont think he was obsessed with Harry. I do think some of his decisions regarding Harry, although Dumbledore thought they were, not nessarcarily in Harry's interests. Im sure Dumbledore said something in book 5 along the lines of "I was more concerned for your happiness then you knowing the truth" or something to that extent. So in a way I think he was obsessed with Harry being happy, or being as normal as could be expected, rather then telling him the entire truth and treating him like an adult.
enara
think that at this time it takes more to protect Harry equally. Does that make sence???
But I don't think it is an obsession.
Chrissy
Well, sort of, i mean sometimes when i read COS i thought that hes always dependant on harry, i wouldn't say obsessed but yes, dependant somewhat!
genervt
i wouldn´t say obsessed either. I think DD loved Harry more than was obvious.
In HBP DD was near to cry when harry told him that he is DD´s man and after the cave DD sayed that he is not worried as he is with harry. i nearly cried at the last, well i did it a few pages later.

So DD loves Harry i guess how he has never loved somebody before, but he knows that harry is maybe the only one who can kill Voldemort and that troubles him.
~SapphireStar~
No, not really. He cares for Harry and Harry has been through alot. Dumbledore is just such a lovely person that he would do anything for his students and thats why he has such a strong connection with them and everyone, well nearly eervyone, loves him.

But I dont think he is being obessed with Harry.
