We know that Voldemort (flinch) has used Inferi in the past, and will probably do it again. We also know that Harry wants to visit Godric's Hollow to visit his parent's grave (you know what's coming). Do you think that Voldemort may turn James and Lily into Inferi?

I think that's creepy and gruesome, and I hope that it doesn't come to that....but that is a really nice thought. Oh I can't imagine Harry when he has to face that, if he does. Eww...awful thought.

dont think that will happen. and who says they were put to rest they? all we know is they died there

As others have said..great thought and I have to admit it is odd nobody has brought it up before.
While I don't think it will happen, I certainly wouldn't put it past Jo to have Voldemort do something like that. I don't think Jo would do it just for the dislike the fans might have towards it.
Anyways, back on topic. I could really see Voldemort pulling a stunt like this simply because he likes toying with/causing Harry pain, it would be the perfect shield for him against Harry, and finally because Voldemort just isn't a nice guy anyways. hehe
I do like the point hat was brought up though about how we only know that Harry's parents died at Godric Hollow...we know nothing as to where they might actually be burried.
We know Dumbledore did ALOT of planning immediately after they died in order to have things lined up for Harry once he was old enough to rejoin the wizarding world. It's possible this thought crossed Dumbledore's mind and as a result the graves were hidden to avoid desecration by the Death Eaters.
Anyways, I think that is a good question to keep in mind and submit next time there is a Q&A session with Jo. That being what happened to the bodies after they were killed and why didn't the Weasley's ever take Harry to see the grave (if they know of course).

At the end of book 6, doesn't harry say he would go and visit their graves? That's the reason I believe they're buried there.

There are people who doesn't have English as their native language, and might not understand the shortenings. So please spell out all your words.

Thanks!

oh ok i can understand that. sorry for do it, it wont happen again.

May 23 2006, 02:11 PM
mmm... i dont' think that will happen. for an instance, when harry's parents died, voldemort "died" too, so he couldn't made them inferi...
and, this is not nice but it's the truth, after more or less fifteen years, i don't think that lily's and jame's corpses are in a good state to become Inferi... i'm sure that only their bones are left. As I said, that's not a nice thing to say, but it's the truth.

I have to agree with iareaj. That is gross to even think about, but true. I also think that surely that would borderline on inappropriate for JKR. I mean some things should be sacred. Of course, the way she has painted V's character, it would fit.

Well, I thought about that as soon as I read this, and I thought to myself, maybe that's how Harry beats V, he see's that V has done this, gets angry, and kills him, then he has destroy his parents, or maybe there is some magic, to bring them back, I know I know, far fetched but maybe it's possible?

does it say what it takes to make a corpse an inferi... just an incantation or what?

JKR never went into it on how one is made.

I would hate to see/read Harry go through that, although I wouldn't put it past Voldemort, in fact I wouldn't put anything past Voldemort! Mind you he would have to know Harry was there and I think by this stage, Voldemort would just kill Harry.

this is depending on if they still have bodies left..... they might have been destroyed. i know the AK curse doesnt do that but i wouldnt put it pass the order to destroy their bodies so this couldnt happen.

Mind you they could have been cremated *shudder*. I feel so morbid thinking about it!

I don't think they would have been cremated, but I think the bodies might of just rotted through time...UURGH... But lets not thiink about that!

It would scare Harry so it is possible.

Jun 29 2006, 03:09 PM
Well, let's think about it. Harry is going to the graves, right? Wouldn't Voldemort want to hurt Harry as much as possible? And then, Harry's greatest desire is to have his family, and he always has some hope to see his parents again. Again, just a theory, but yes, it is very possible.

We all know Voldemort by now, so the Inferi option would actually not be beneath him

and it would force Harry to face more bravary-like see past his parents and see what they really are at that point. It would make the task harder! And basically make him or stronger or(as I think Voldemort will hope) weaker...

Oh my word....that's really aweful to think of
Bellezza
Jul 2 2006, 12:35 PM
I agree with you danradcliffefan. It would be the biggest challenge for Harry...to have to face his parents in that state, and I think it would be the love from his friends that gets him through it.

I think it is highly possible that the Potters' bodies were cremated. The only other wizard or witch I can remember that died and was explained how the corpse was dealt with was Dumbledore, and he was cremated.

I don't think Harry's parents were cremated. They keep talking about visting his parents' graves. I could be wrong and they could of been, but why the graves then? Unless there was no bodies found and this is a memorial, which could make sense.

Jo said there's no spell that brings back the dead, btw. Anyway, I don't think it will happen. It seems right in V's characetr, but maybe he doesn't even know where the graves. This is possibly what DD was talking about on the tower when he talked about the protection of Draco and his mother, except this is refeering to graves.
