I wonder if Rita will be back in Book 6. I'd love to see her start up her own magazine and write very far fetched stories about Voldemorts return.

I wonder if Rita will be back in Book 6. I'd love to see her start up her own magazine and write very far fetched stories about Voldemorts return.
I see her returning as a good journalist instead of the hack she was in book 4.
I hope shes not, what a bag of wind!
Do you think Rita witnessed the parting of the ways scene in GoF because I assume Hermione caught her then!! So she won't be helping Fudge but will rather how foolish he was!!!!!

Absolutely! I was thinking that that particular part of GOF was going to be an integral part of book 5 before it came out. Being that it wasn't I wouldn't be surprised if it does play a part in book 6.

i think Rita goes with the tide of public opinion, and since she was the woman who had the pinnacle story of harry telling about voldemort's return, she will do a lot of Fudge-bashing as well..i don't think she cares what she believes, probably not even if Voldemort really is back, but she will do whatever sells, with Hermione to stop her if the tide turns against harry for some reason (which i don't think it will)

I can't see why she would be saying bad things on Harry now everyone believes hiom to be a hero!!!!

It's the scene in which Snape and Sirius shake hands. The one where Sirius changes from his animagus form into himself in front of everybody. The one where while Molly was hugging Harry, Hermione slammed down the jar on top of Rita, catching her.
On this subject, JK has been asked if Sirius' name will ever be cleared and she always said she couldn't say. I have the feeling that it will be cleared in book 6. That he may get some kind of award posthumously and that Rita will be the one that will print Sirius' life story, including the part of him being an Animagus. Cause she can "exclusively reveal" that (lol). I also have the feeling that she will also say the names of his friends that learned to do it illegally as well, making PP lose his disguise. Although, that may not happen. But I can see it as a possibility.

I don't think it's so much that, but that she goes with whatever is going to be the biggest story. She was starting to say some rather nasty things about Harry before everyone started thinking he was a nutter. So I would say that at that point, she wasn't going with public opinion. Just with what she thought was the biggest story at that time.
She witnessed Sirius and Rogue but she might told the people that Snape is helping Voldemort and Snape would be really bad welcomed if it happened!!!!

That's really dangerous though!! Hermione had better informed DD on what Rita is!!! or warn her not to say such things like Snape is the traitor if she did not do it yet!!!!
for some reason, i don't think hermione would cover that base with rita about protecting snape...besides, isn't there some way to become registered even after the fact of you are an animagus?? there has to be some sort of rule, but anyway, now that the ministry has bigger problems, would they even chase after animagi as much, especially if its someone like rita..i don't think so for some reason

I think they will. I think the Ministry is going to be furious about having unregistered Animagi running around under their very noses. I think they're going to try and round up as many of them as they can. Even giving out rewards to people who can turn in an unregistered Animagi. And if they are going to start believing DD now, they had better start going after them. DD told Fudge about Peter Pettigrew. At a minimum they have to at least go after that particular Animagi.
Well there probally already looking for pettigrew cause hes one of Voldemorts followers. I wonder if his new arm will do any dammage?

I can't believe i missed this! It'd explain Rita's ban for a year, and can get Fudge out of office more easily.
Wow! I've never thought of that! I never really liked Rita Skeeter's character, but the information she knows could clear Sirius of his charges and it could help get Fudge out of office. That's really really cool!
