Helena Bonham Carter Gives A Kiss For Charity

According to an article posted on UK’s The Journal website, Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) “puckered up” for a kiss to imprint her lips on a card with her autograph. In April, MediCinema will auction the card along with other cards “kissed” by Harry Potter stars (per MediCinema) Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Zoe Wanamaker (Madame Hooch), John Hurt (Olivander), Kenneth Branagh (Gilderoy Lockhart), and Jim Broadbent (Professor Slughorn). Other celebrities like Kate Winslet and John Travolta have also donated their "kisses" for the auction.

MediCare is a charitable organization that brings “the big screen” to patients, even the ones who are bed-ridden and in wheelchairs. Proceeds from The Healed With A Kiss Auction Party will be used for a 50-seat cinema in the new children’s hospital at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Meanwhile, selected copies of the cards will be displayed in the windows of Newcastle’s Fenwick store and Fenwick Bond Street.

Branagh & Fiennes: Support Campaign For Chekov’s White Dacha

According to an article posted by The Guardian, Harry Potter stars Kenneth Branagh (Professor Lockhart) and Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) have offered their support to Dr. Rosamund Bartlett’s Yalta Chekov campaign. This campaign is to repair damages made by time in the playwright Anton Chekov’s home known as the White Dacha.

Rickman and Branagh: Evening Standard Award Nominees

Variety reported that Harry Potter stars Alan Rickman and Kenneth Branagh are on the nominees longlist for London’s Evening Standard Theater Awards. Mr. Rickman, who portrayed Professor Snape in the Harry Potter films, is nominated for his direction of Creditors by August Strindberg at The Donmar Warehouse. Mr. Branagh, who appeared as “Gilderoy Lockhart” in Chamber of Secrets, is nominated for his performance as “Ivanov” in The Donmar Warehouse’s production of the play by Anton Chekhov.

According to the article, the longlist of nominees will be trimmed to a shortlist later this week; and the awards will be presented at a ceremony on November 24.

Report: Kenneth Branagh Negotiating as Thor Director

Kenneth Branagh (Professor Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) is apparently in negotiations to direct Marvel's film adaptation of Thor. If he gets to work on this film, it will be the first action film he's directed. He is famous for directing Shakespeare films like Hamlet and Henry V, along with many other films.

Thor is scheduled for release in 2010.

J.K. Rowling and Potter Stars Celebrate Fry's 50th

Stephen Fry, who does the UK version of the Harry Potter audio books, celebrated his 50th birthday last weekend. J.K. Rowling, along with some of the Harry Potter stars, helped him to celebrate by joining in on the televised event Stephen Fry 50 Not Out.

The stars who joined Jo include Imelda Staunton (Professor Umbridge), Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney), David Tennant (Barty Crouch, Jr.), Kenneth Branagh (Professor Lockhart), and Rick Mayall (Peeves).

Kenneth Branagh who played Professor Gilderoy Lockhart in the Chamber of Secrets turns 45 today. We are hoping he'll be in OotP for his (I presume) funny role...can't wait!

Branagh's 'Warm Springs' This Saturday

Kenneth Branagh (Professor Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) has recently completed an HBO film titled Warm Springs. He has the role of Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR), a U.S. President who suffered from polio. This movie shows the struggles that FDR went through while suffering from the disease. The movie will show this Saturday at 8 p.m. on HBO.
