The biography was published by Lucent Books who specializes in non-fiction resources for upper-elementary to high school students. Ms. Rowling’s biography is part of their People in the News series which also includes the biographies of Colin Powell, Tiger Woods, and Christopher Reeve, written by other authors.
Bradley Steffens has also written essays, poems, and plays that include Free Speech (Ripped from the Headlines), From An Eighteenth Century Painted Tile And Other Poems, and Last Stand.
The award ceremony was sponsored by The San Diego Book Awards Association which promotes literacy through its Read-4-Fun program, focusing on fifth graders in the San Diego County schools and giving away approximately 2,500 books each year to young readers.
Note: Theodor S. Geisel was also known as "Dr. Seuss" who wrote about those green eggs and ham.
Thank you for bringing attention to my award. In my acceptance speech, I pointed out that no doubt the judges were responding to the quotes, struggles, and artistic vision of J.K. Rowling. It was my job to make her the star of the book.
