Another Real Woman Role For Julie Walters
|
We previously reported about Julie Walters’ portrayal of Mary Whitehouse, the woman who challenged the BBC during the 1960’s, in a movie for BBC2. According to an article in MailOnline, the actress, known as “Molly Weasley” in the Harry Potter films, has accepted the role of Dr. Anne Turner for a BBC1 TV film. Dr. Turner was a medical practitioner from Bath who became publicly known in 2006 for announcing her intention to end her life by means of assisted suicide after being diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a neurological degenerative disease.
A Short Stay In Switzerland will be directed by Simon Curtis. Mr. Curtis also directed the mini-series Cranford which starred Dame Judi Dench and Dame Eileen Atkins. He was quoted to have said that Ms. Walters has “that extra ingredient the public responds to; Dame Judi has that, too. The audience love to go on the journey she takes them on”.

Julie Walters Not a Harry Potter Fan
|
Julie Walters, who portrays Molly Weasley in the Harry Potter films, admitted she's not a huge Harry Potter fan in a recent interview.
"The funny thing was that a rumour went around once that I was an avid reader of the Harry Potter books and that I was always first in the queue when they came out.
"Not the case, I'm afraid. Someone caught me thumbing through one on a bookstand and all I was doing - I admit it - was checking whether or not JK Rowling, the author, had written my character out!
"It was pure self-interest. I got to the magic words 'Mrs Weasley', realised I wasn't going to be the impending corpse and put the book back on the shelf." |

Julie Walters Speaks of Phoenix
|
Julie Walters, who portrays Mrs. Wesley in the Harry Potter films, recently spoke with JewReview.net regarding her recent film Driving Lessons and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Here are a few excerpts of what she had to say about the fifth Harry Potter film:
“The sets are fantastic; Mark (Williams), who plays Mr. Weasley, said they made his hair stand up on the back of his neck when he walked into one of the rooms. They’re just so beautiful, they’re amazing.”
Regarding the new director, David Yates:
“He’s very unassuming; they were in a way, Alfonso was, but he’s fantastic. [David] is very into the emotional truth of it, the kids absolutely love it; he’s very sweet and kind, and very, very into the story like a child is. And he’s really into the emotional depths, and he’s really fantastic, he’s a lovely man.”

Walters on Potter, Grint, and More
|
Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley) recently spoke with The Daily Record about the many projects she is doing, including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which she'll be on set filming this fall. She also spoke of working with Rupert Grint during Driving Lessons. Here are some excerpts:
And with her role in the Harry Potter movies, Julie's considerable fan base has expanded even further. "You wouldn't believe how many kids recognise me, and want the autograph of Mrs Weasley," she laughs. "Even if the part in the films isn't really that large, it's lovely to be appreciated.
She also admitted that she is not a big reader of the Harry Potter books, although rumours had gone round that she was. This was because she had heard that one of the books had a death of a major character. She was caught rifling through the book at a book store, just trying to confirm that the character wasn't Mrs. Weasley ('job insurance, you know').
And what about Rupert Grint?
"I love the time that I'm in his company. He is a terrible giggler. He sees or hears something funny, and he's away. I see his shoulders start to twitch and I'm off too.
"But he's grown up so much in the last few years. At the premiere of the first Harry Potter film, my husband Grant turned to me, pointed at the three young stars, and said 'Look at them, poor things'.

Julie Walters To Return For OotP
|
Thanks to MuggleNet we have quotes from Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley) most recent interview with FilmFocus stating that she will be returning to do Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!!! And now I'm excited, because Julie Walters rocks!
She says:
"I really can't wait. Will you write to them and tell them that I'm indispensable? But, yes, it looks like I'm doing number five."
And she says how she was "shocked" to not be in GoF:
"I'm so glad to hear you say you were disappointed I wasn't in Goblet of Fire, because I was disappointed as well! I went out to see it and I wasn't there - I was shocked!" |
