Follow Up: Fiennes' Advanced Negotiations as Hades
|
We previously reported that Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films) was in negotiations for the role of Hades in the remake of the 1981 film Clash of the Titans. Now Variety is also reporting the same information, stating that he is now in advanced negotiations for the part.
He's also looking at a role in The Men at the Pru and an uncredited cameo in Emma Thompson's (Trelawney) Nanny McPhee.
The catch? He wants to complete all of this work before he reprises his Lord Voldemort role in Part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which, the article states, starts production this Fall.
Whew! Talk about busy! |

Interview: Ralph Fiennes On His New Movie ‘The Reader’
|
The Boston Globe posted an interview with Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort) who was promoting his new movie The Reader which also stars Kate Winslet. Although he is not in many scenes, Mr. Fiennes is pleased with his part in the film.
The movie is based on the best-selling novel by Bernhard Schlink. Mr. Fiennes portrays a middle-aged lawyer who has to deal with the consequences of an affair he had with a much older woman (Kate Winslet) when he was a young man.
In spite of discussing his character “Michael Berg”, Mr. Fiennes does make a humorous reference to his work as “Lord Voldemort” in the last two Harry Potter films:
Q. This is your fourth 2008 movie [along with "In Bruges," "The Duchess," and "The Hurt Locker"].
A. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a workaholic. It's good to work.
Q. That must make your accountant happy.
A. My accountant is happy when I [act in] "Harry Potter."
The Reader will be released in theaters on Thursday, December 25.
