Harry Potter Films To Receive Special AFI Award

Posted by Lilysowl On December - 12 - 2011

Harry PotterThe complete Harry Potter film series has been chosen by the American Film Institute to receive a special award in the institute’s annual recognition of excellence in film for the year 2011.  This recognition honors both the cast and crew for all eight films!

According to their website, the American Film Institute is “America’s promise to preserve the history of the motion picture, to honor the artists and their work and to educate the next generation of storytellers…”  Also, it is the largest non-profit exhibitor in the United States which has honored many legendary films, actors and actresses as well as television movies and programs for the past 40 years.

The Special AFI Award is presented to visual screen work that has made outstanding achievements in the moving image which do not fit AFI’s criteria for the other honorees of the year.

:) But we always knew the Harry Potter films were in a category of their own, didn’t we?

Congratulations to the cast and crew of the Harry Potter films for receiving one of the highest honors in the film industry!

Potter Films In Top 50 Kids’ Movies For Adults

Posted by Lilysowl On February - 13 - 2010

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceThe Times created a list of 50 kids’ movies that can be enjoyed by adults as well as  children.  According to the article, the choices caused quite a debate among The Times staff before the Harry Potter films were placed in the #23 spot:

23 Harry Potter (2001-present) JK Rowling’s books were famously devoured by both kids and adults, and the film continued the trend, especially later installments, when the Children of Men director Alfonso Cuaron and State of Play ‘s David Yates injected teen angst and political intrigue.

The Incredibles produced by Pixar was #1.
