Ralph Fiennes was born in Suffolk, England, on December 22, 1962. He is the eldest of six children and originally hoped to be a painter. After attending the Chelsea College of Art and Design and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, he joined up with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He won a Tony award for his Broadway portrayal of Hamlet in 1995. He is divorced. His name is pronounced ‘Rafe Fines’.
