Update: Rupert Grint Interviews and US Appearance
|
Ron Weasley star Rupert Grint is to attend the screening of his new film Driving Lessons at the Tribeca Film Festival. According to RupertGrint.net, the screening will take place on April 30th at 8:30pm. You can get tickets at the door.
Rupert also recently had quite a lengthy interview with ComingSoon.net regarding his role in Driving Lessons along with some Potter stuff as well. Here are a few excerpts:
CS: We're used to see you doing more comedy, but in this, you're more of the straight man to Julie (Walter - Mrs. Weasley actress). Was it hard to play down your instincts for humor? Grint: Sure. That was another difference that I quite liked as well, cause [Ben]'s a lot different than Ron, obviously.
CS: Both in this and in "Potter," you're really good at playing the awkward, uncomfortable type. Is that a natural part of yourself or is that nothing like you really are? Grint: Slightly. It depends really what it is. Ron finds it really hard to get it on for the dance and Ben is quite awkward with the girls as well. That's something quite similar in both characters, but it's sort of typical teenage behavior, I guess.
CS: How far along are you on the new "Potter" movie? Grint: The fifth one? We're almost halfway there. We only sort of started, but there's still a long way to go, but it's going really well.
CS: Did you notice a big change in the writing, since this is the first one not written by Steven Cloves? Grint: I guess it's still quite faithful to the book, and it's a really good script, actually.
CS: We got to see a lot more of Ron in the last movie. Is the character going more in that direction with this next movie? Grint: Yeah, it's more of that really, just growing up and getting more independent than the fourth one.
Make sure to read the rest here.
Update:
Rupert also spoke with MTV about his role in Driving Lessons (he almost hit a crew member with a car!), and how he seems to get a bit out of hand while filming the Potter films. He also talks about his kissing scenes, both in Potter and DL. He says that he is currently filming the DA scene in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. |

Rupert Grint Talks to Alloy
|
Ron Weasley star Rupert Grint recently spoke with Alloy about his roles in the Harry Potter films and Driving Lessons.
Here are a few excerpts:
Why did you decide to do a different type of movie now? RG: The Harry Potter movies are so long, and as good as they are, it's nice to do something different. This came up, and I figured it would be a nice change. It's a much more grown up film -- there's a bit of swearing in it. Also, I was looking forward to the driving bit.
Would you ever date a fan? RG: Yeah, I think so, if they were nice enough.
Would you ever date a co-star? RG: It would be a bit weird -- seeing them everyday. I don't know if it would work.
What do you look for in a girl? RG: A good sense of humor.
You can see a few photos from Driving Lessons here and here. See the rest of the interview here.

Richard Griffiths on OOTP and Vernon Dursley Role
|
Richard Griffiths, who portrays Harry Potter's uncle, Vernon Dursley, recently spoke with the New York Post about his role in the Potter films, and his role he currently has on Broadway.
He says of his Dursley role, "You can't go anywhere without being bothered by kids." He then adds, "Vernon is the most unsympathetic character, so the kids expect me to be horrible. And who am I to disoblige them? I mean, I love kids, but I couldn't eat a whole one."
For the current film, he says of the younger actors and future Potter films that they're going to get "darker and increasingly complex, massive acting demands are going to be made on them. Will they have the emotional technique to do it? It's going to be very interesting to find out."
He is currently on Broadway playing the role of Hector, a professor of English literature in Alan Bennett's play from London, "The History Boys." |
